Moretto: Milan not rushing to begin Giroud renewal talks – the situation

AC Milan have not yet made a decision regarding the future of Olivier Giroud despite some reports suggesting that a renewal is close.

Giroud joined Milan from Chelsea in the summer of 2021 and he has scored some very important goals across the last three-and-a-bit seasons, including derby winners and in the Scudetto run-in.

His deal expires at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, and Matteo Moretto reports for SOSFanta that Giroud’s future will be better understood in the summer.

Negotiations for his renewal have not yet started and it is not considered an urgent topic by the Rossoneri management, who are focusing on other priorities at the moment.

There will certainly be time to discuss the options and to understand which path both parties wish to take, but what Moretto reports suggests there is no certainty that the 37-year-old will remain for a fourth season despite the player’s hints that he wishes to do so.
