Moretto: Milan offer top salary and starting spot to try convince Bundesliga duo

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have activated talks with the entourage of two Bundesliga players that they hope to sign on free transfers, according to one journalist.

According to Matteo Moretto of Relevo, Milan have opened talks with the agent of both Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan N’Dicka and Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram in view of their deals expiring later this month.

The journalist states that the Rossoneri know that they are ‘starting at a disadvantage’ after the break in talks over the duo, but ‘they are willing to try to convince’ the pair with the project that they are pitching.

Among the incentives put forward by the new Milan management are a salary among the top earners in the squad and a starting role in the team for next season.

However, at the moment it seems Roma are the big rivals for N’Dicka and PSG have moved for Thuram, so there is strong competition to beat if Milan are to pull off what would be a statement double signing.

  1. Hopefully they can steal N’Dicka from Roma. We need a left footed CB and he can also play LB.
Thuram ain’t happening, or it will be a miracle if it happens

  2. haha funny, now they don’t have any financial restrictions or wage cap…they know there will be a lot of backlash if they don’t this summer after the mess they made by the WAY they fired M&M

  3. At this point, I don’t really believe any news. At the end of the summer market, we will know if Red Bird made the right decision and whether there is any meat to the bones of their claims.
That said, no matter how well they do now and in the future, it is very clear that they managed the situation very poorly. The same could have been done in a much more respectful manner and with better communication.

  4. I’m writing that since months here

There are a lot of good free transfer players available:

    Tielemans
    Ndicka
    Thuram
    Kamada

Add to that players 1 or 2 good signings like SMS and Zaniolo and we have a team that can compete for scudetto and CL quarters

How can Roma get Aouar and Ndicka, an M&M were lookig for Arnatovic and RLC???

    1. Agreed. Was one of my concerns with Maldini as well. How does Roma beat Milan to Aouar and N’Dicka. Cos on the surface Aouar wanted Milan and all of a sudden he is primed for Roma. I. Relieve they are good fits for Milan and getting them for no cost would have worth the risk.

  5. So whilst other teams have been discussing plans and integration of these players for weeks or months, we’re just starting to try to pull together a targets list now….. can’t see either of these two joining so I suspect we’ll be starting from scratch again in a few weeks

  6. Don’t get your hopes up. It says offering them to be “top earners on the squad” – that does NOT mean we are exceeding our WAGE CAP to sign either of them. The “top” of our wage cap is 4M – and sum PSG will have no issue destroying when it comes to a Thurman offer and now that Mourhino has signed an extension – I assume Roma will be a bit more aggressive in their offer to N’Dicka to please José. NEXT

    1. Well, actually it does, since Leao is making 7m including bonuses, so these offers can be in that range, not 4m.

      1. LOL. If you think Redbird/Elliot are going to offer anywhere close to 7M for for either you are insane buddy lol. Never happen. Serious – Do you honestly think Redbird will now start offering top salaries in Italy??? Over our WAGE CAP?? hahahahahaha! Keep dreaming my friend. Don’t drink the kool aid mate. PR Spin from Redbird. That would go contrary to sustainable budget they have implemented

  7. Questionable choices.

For one, signing a lot of free agents is never a good idea. History tells us it rarely works. There are many examples.

Then Thuram does not look like the profile that we need for starting striker. He’s tall but I don’t think he’s a good header of the ball and hold-up play is not his forte. Isn’t he more of a left winger or hybrid like Rebic or something anyway?

Ndicka could be good signing to maybe pair with Thiaw and solve our height problem, but then again defense is the last area we need to intervene. I guess one between Tomori, Kalulu or Gabbia will be sold if he signs, which could be a solid plan to raise funds but again, signing players just because they’re free is not the way to go. I will reserve my judgement for when they actually spend some money on transfers, only then we’ll see the height of their ambition and seriousness.
