Moretto: Milan hit pause on Chukwueze’s move to Fulham – what happens now

Samuel Chukwueze’s move to Fulham has been put on hold for now, according to a report, but contacts will be picked up in the coming days.

Chukwueze is on the brink of leaving Milan, having said yes to a move to Fulham, but there are still some details that need to be sorted. In addition to finalising the transfer terms, Milan have decided to hit pause on the deal for now.

The Rossoneri will be up against Lecce this evening and since Christian Pulisic has a minor ankle injury, Chukwueze is the only forward on the bench. The American could still get a few minutes, but the Nigerian is first in line.

Negotiations set to resume

As explained by Matteo Moretto in a video on YouTube, Milan and Fulham made ‘a lot of progress’ in the negotiations between Tuesday and Wednesday. The deal was almost closed then, as the journalist puts it, for a loan with an option that will turn into an obligation at around €25m.

However, the clubs haven’t moved forward since, despite the player saying yes to a contract worth €3.5m net per season. As Moretto continues, this is likely due to Milan’s focus on the game against Lecce tonight, after which they will resume talks with Fulham.

  1. Chuk is an ok option off the bench when Plan A doesn’t work. The problem was always the price we paid for said option. At that price fans, rightfully so, would like to see more. If he was 10-15m, sure it made sense as a bench option like Okafor. This is what I feel is the issue with him.

    1. The problem was they signed 3 x RWs in one transfer window and only one worked out.

That’s usually what happens in every position on the pitch.

      The auld 3/1.

(I’ll save you reply…blah blah Como)

      1. If you’re going to save me the reply why bother even comment? Just move on bro..keep it moving hypocrite, fake fan

  2. Chukwu never really got a chance, especially with Pulisic playing on that flank under three coaches. I think because Milan struggled to win many matches decisively, Pulisic was required all the time, and Chukwu was only brought on to play minor roles. This affected the winger all round and will be yet another talent misused by Milan.

    1. Exactly.

It’s happened so many times with so many players.

But it seems like the club need him now as it’s hard to see who they even have in attack any more.

      1. Yes bro you’re a real fan of Millan and Football, Chuku never get much time to play and most of the matches her started you can go and check he contributed by a goal or assist in almost every of the few matches he made XI
Chuku in Villareal was a beast even Liverpool tried to get him for 60mill but it was turned down by Villareal
Stefano Pioli knew he had an amazing player in chuku but he didn’t have much time to show the club the best he got for less money, Maybe many people forgot how Chuku destroyed Bayern Munich i the 2 leg of champion league quarter finals and how he destroyed Real Madrid in laliga he’s one of the best LW in serie A just give him game time before you decide on what to do with a player.

  3. He is only good for this owners and this situation. He is not good player at all.
Playing 2 years at club like Milan he should be great but no

    1. Don’t ruin the transfer by bringing him on. Give a chance to a futuro or primavera player instead, would be better

  4. It’s impossible to understand what’s going on.

Were Musah and Chuk leaving because Allegri didn’t want them or because Furlani is having a flash sale? I don’t rate either player but they need replacing if they are sold, and those replacements should be part of some semblance of a plan.

    The squad is a mess!

  5. “on the brink”

Yeah, he’s not on the brink at all. He wouldn’t be playing tonight if he was; just various journos trying to one up each other. Maybe it’s being discussed but I don’t think it’s very close.

  8. Yeah chuku is a great player it’s just dat his not had dat opportunity,go nd check any time he as dat opportunity he as always delivered, either a goal or an assist.

  9. So, we have no christened striker or forward, but we are still selling the last one, even though we have no clue who could arrive to replace them??? No one could think of such a brilliant idea!!!

P.S. What will our formation now look lik: 3-7-0, maybe?
