Moretto: Milan will use popular contract formula for Emerson Royal as well

Emerson Royal will be AC Milan’s third signing of the summer, scheduled to arrive in Milano with his agent tomorrow. According to a report, the Brazilian international will sign a contract which includes a clause that the Rossoneri seem to like.

Following quite long negotiations, with Spurs initially asking for €25m, Milan managed to reach an agreement at €15m plus bonuses. It’s a signing that doesn’t excite most of the fanbase but the full-back will be looking to prove them wrong.

As reported by Matteo Moretto this afternoon, Emerson Royal will sign a four-year contract with a club and there will also be an option for an additional year (4+1). This is a formula that Milan used for both Alvaro Morata and Strahinja Pavlovic, it should be noted.

The medical tests and the contract signing are scheduled for Monday, as the journalist concludes, and Emerson should thus be on the bench against Torino. It remains to be seen how he will do in the competition with Davide Calabria, but the feeling is that he’s been signed as a starter.

In the meantime, Paulo Fonseca and his men are preparing for the season opener and the final friendly, scheduled for Tuesday evening.

  1. Not my first pick but not the worse either. At 25 he has his best years ahead of him. His played for good teams in Betis, Barça & Spurs + 20 caps for Brazil. If he rediscovers his form we will have an underappreciated player that can become fans favorite. Its also good for Calabria to have competition given his inconsistent form.

    1. Good teams? Brah? You’re so busy trying to praise him you pressed 2 instead of 1. He has 10 caps for Brazil. And he only played 90 minutes for barca over 3 games.. if that counts as playing for a club idk man…

I mean it’s done now but idk why some people wanna portrait him as an underdeveloped asset. He isn’t.. he’s just an bang average player

      1. That’s your opinion and that’s fine. Do a bit more research and you’ll see he has 20 caps for Brazil, 10 are for under 18 and 21 where he played in youth world cup for them. Yes he played 3 games for Barca but they paid big money to bring him from Betis but things didnt work out. Pretty sure they paid 25-30m for him. He might end of being average player but he has never delivered against his potential.

    1. Nah. The only upgrade happening here is the dude somehow manged to upgrade his club resume . From spurs to Milan..what a lucky sob

  2. Good Manager and the right environment should be able to turn this player around.

Potential is there, and since Tottenham play wingback system, he should be able to fit in well with new direction.

Lets hope for the best. 15M I would say is a good value and low risk if things dont work out

  3. So far the management has gotten the targets they wanted, at the prices they wanted. Let’s see what happens with Fofana…
