Moretto: Milan keen on removing Real Madrid’s buy-back for Jimenez – the latest

Ever since the game against Genoa in December, Alex Jimenez has been an important player for AC Milan and now, the Rossoneri are expected to re-negotiate the terms with Real Madrid.

The Spaniard made his debut with the Rossoneri last season, making three appearances in the league under Stefano Pioli’s guidance. However, it wasn’t until December that he got the chance in the league this season, starting in the game against Genoa.

Since then, he hasn’t looked back and as reported by Matteo Moretto, that Genoa game came at the right time as Jimenez had asked to be loaned out a few weeks before. Yesterday, coming off the bench against Verona, he was heavily involved in Milan’s winner with a great dink over the defence.

In short, he has impressed the management a lot and they are now looking to sit down with Real Madrid to re-negotiate the terms of Jimenez’s contract. As things stand, the Bernabeu side will have the opportunity to buy back the full-back for €9m in the summer and €12m in 2026.

Milan’s goal, of course, is to remove these clauses as they want to keep the player who they spent €5m for last summer. The relations between the clubs are great so the feeling is that an agreement can be reached, the question is just at what cost.

  1. Ok so there actually is a buyback clause as I’ve been saying all a long. Lately there had been contradictory information in the media so I was starting to hope It would be the latter, well unless we actually pays up 15-20 mil or something then I’m afraid that he will soon be gone as Real Madrid can just bring him back and sell him for a higher fee than the 9-12 mil. We can always rely on the players will but considering he is Spanish and Madrid basically is a guarantee for trophies then we may not have a lot of sway in that discussion.

    1. That is exactly what will happen Martin. We will develop him and Real will get him back for cheap so they can resell him for profit.

      1. Yeah unfortunately that seems to be the most likely scenario. I really hate the way we deal with Real Madrid. We might not be where Madrid currently is but we make ourselves look like true minors when we peddle ourselves so cheaply when we could develop our own players or get someone else who is fully available in the market.

        1. Which one of “our own” players have the talent that Jimenez has?
You think Milan, Juventus or any serie A club getting this talented players on loans will do that if they had their own players of the same quality?
Juventus has Conceição son on loan with no option to buy.
Renato Veiga on loan with no option to buy.
Kolo Muani on loan with no option to buy.
Jimenez is contributing to Milan, he isn’t just getting developed as some thick people keep repeating.
Milan had Brahim Diaz for 3 years for almost no fee and he contributed to Milan winning a scudetto and going to the semi-final of UCL. Milan wasn’t developing him, but using him to reach their goals while paying nothing for him.
And compared to Real Madrid any club in the world are true minors.

          1. As I said “we could develop our own players or get someone else who is fully available in the market” so I didn’t set myself on only that option but you never know if you doesn’t try them out and sometimes players just need the trust and chances to have their breakthroughs.
Juventus is far more strapped for cash and what they have has been spend on a few players while selling some as well, so what ?
I’m not saying he isn’t contributing quite the opposite but a club of AC Milans stature nevertheless shouldn’t follow such path in my view.
Milan did have Diaz and he also contributed but quite frankly I would have preferred that we had given the greater deal of minutes to Daniel Maldini instead who played roughly 500 minutes for us over the years and mainly used as a backup for Leao which isn’t his natural position. Before you say he isn’t good enough well we’ll never know how he would have fared and developed and as his father said his name would in fact make his path rougher if it wasn’t as he wouldn’t be given any easier way to the team on that ground. When that is said you can always argue that AC Milans finances was far worse at that point of time so loaning players made more sense at that span of time.
Well currently sure but before AC Milan went downhill and on hiatus from Europe we nevertheless still had the 7 cl wins whereas Real Madrid had 9. On top of that Madrid didn’t win ec/cl for 31 years until they won it again in 1998. If you think you are small then the world will percieve you as such as well and up until the 2010s Madrid wasn’t especially superior to us also considering the Franco years where Madrid could rob Barcelona of their players if the dictator wanted to do so like he for example did with Di Stefano who otherwise would have played for the Catalans.

          2. First of all I’m not complaining I’m stating clear facts that it isn’t smart to develop other teams players if we doesn’t have full control of said players but sure for the lack of arguments lets say its complaining if you want to say so but that still doesn’t make it more correct as an argument.

        1. As i said further up “We can always rely on the players will but considering he is Spanish and Madrid basically is a guarantee for trophies then we may not have a lot of sway in that discussion”
I’ts a possibility but I wouldn’t bet my money on it but lets nevertheless hope it goes in our favor.

          1. I believe Madrid are in need of a RB, so that won’t help us. They like attacking RB. Though they are linked with Alexander Arnold, so maybe he will block the path.

I wonder how much choice Jimenez has in this agreement. Morata was bought back by Madrid and sold on for profit. Though that didn’t go well for him.

I hope he stays and becomes our RB or perhaps RWB more likely.
Walker is solid but its already obvious his pace is gone and Jimenez gives much more going forward

          2. SJF you are absolutely correct Carvajal is 33 and his contract will expire 2026 and Vasquez will turn 34 in the summer while his contract also expires there so it is fesible that they would want to bring him back then or at least in the summer of 2026. Not to mention that Carvajal is injured until August,

Same here and who knows as it would make reason for a club to not to be too over reliant on the players whims considering they are basically investments for the clubs.

Walker might have slowed down a bit but he is still one of our fastest players and did also show it yesterday when he ran down the middle of the field over a long stretch so I at least partially disagree here. When that is said having Walker helping him to develop probably is beneficial for the Spaniard andeven if the Englishman is our first choice then we have also seen that Jimenez can and will play in other positions.

          3. I thought that run he was pumping hard to just stay ahead of his pursuer. He got roasted in recent games by Paixo, Thuram, DiMarco
Hes not slow and hes a very good defender.
I Jimenez is faster and better in attack, but clearly nowhere close as a defender.
With his great attitude he will learn a lot from Walker. One pacey full back to another.
Paolo would have been good for a few tips too, oh well

          4. Well to my knowledge he hadn’t really played as much before he joined us and therefore might need to get a bit more up in gear and all of the players you mentioned are pretty fast players but sure he might be slowing down a bit but his top speed with us which I saw recently somewhere was equal to our fastest players top speeds.
You know my view of it, we really should have kept Paolo.

    2. Let’s not underestimate the player’s will Martin. One thing is clear: he’s Spanish and wants to win trophies at some point. However, securing a starting spot at Real will be difficult, as we can see with Brahim, who is more or less a luxury substitute. I believe certain players prefer to be regular starters, and Jiménez will realize that his chances of being a starter at Milan are much higher than at Real.
He’s getting playing time with us, can continue to develop, and after a few years, he could still be sold to a bigger club if Milan isn’t able to win titles.

      1. I’m not really doing that either as its always a possibility that the player will want to stay but would I bet my money on it not really and if we want to remove the buyback clause then i definitely will expect Real Madrid to want a substantial amount of cash compared to what their buyback clause is set at.

  2. Okay, now there’s a noisy annoying ad at the bottom, along with a video that keeps popping up, and the numerous ads dispersed within the article itself. I get that you guys are trying to make money, but this makes reading articles unbearable

  3. Milan only gain paying small salary from Brahim Diaz, and back then he was decent player. Right now Brahim Diaz would be huge player as no10 or right winger.
So, Jimenez is next Real Madrid player where Milan is paying huge price for developing their player.
They need to be more careful because this is still Real Madrid, of course there are greater chances that their youngster is going to become stronger player.

They always should put much higher buy back clause than this 9 million.
In terms of Brahim Diaz I think Milan did not get any fee.

    1. Brahim Diaz – wise, we don’t get any fee – but we get a player that always giving his all during match, with some goals and assists – and help bring us back to Champions league and 1 scudetto. Thats plenty of return for me, and he also never talk badly about us.

  4. I think we should extend the buy out clause and make 40 mil instead of 10 because thats what I think he is going to be worth in a couple of years for sure. Probably since he is spanish he would want to go back to Real Madrid at a point in his career hopefully not anytime soon.
