Moretto: Milan in ongoing talks over Villarreal duo – the situation and strategy

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have already wrapped up five signings with the arrival of Tijjani Reijnders imminent, but their summer mercato shows no signs of slowing down.

According to the latest from Matteo Moretto of Relevo, there are open conversations ongoing between Milan and Villarreal regarding forward duo Arnaut Danjuma and Samuel Chukwueze.

The former, who would arrive on loan, is a seen as a real opportunity by the Milan management given the low cost of the operation. He plays predominantly as a striker and a left winger, so could function in a Rebic-esque role.

The Nigerian winger meanwhile still far away due to the high demands of the LaLiga club, but one last attempt is expected before abandoning the pursuit because he is the chosen target for the right wing.

Milan will decide who they sign between Mehdi Taremi and Chukwueze depending on how the negotiations go, with developments expected in the coming days.

  1. If Porto wants 30 mil for Taremi its better to spend 25 on Chukwueze and 25 mil for Dia. They are 26 and 24 years old and have many years left. Taremi is 31 next month. Then caugh up 20 mil for Musah, 10 mil for Dominguez and we are set. 25+25+20+10 would be 80 mil in total. Thats what we sold Tonali for. Then sell Rebic, Origi, Messias, Balo-Toure and De Keteleare to pay for Singo and a new LB and balance the books.

    1. Dannyboy
Vi har redan gjort av med pengarna för tonali. Så budgeten just nu är 350 eller vad dom sa från början.

    2. where is your math at? Milan alredy spent the money they got from Tonali.. 16 Check, 20 Pulisič and 20 Reijnders. Mind you Tonali was sold for 64M not 80.
They dont have 50M to blow on Chuky and Dia…

      1. The numbers floating around prior to Tonali being sold were rumors and not confirmed. As far as we are concerned, Milan could end up signing another 3-4 more players after Reijnders.

        1. they will. So what? Milan still doenst have 50M to blow on Chuky and Dia. Thats why the lowballing for every transfer.. In case you didnt notice that..

  2. The math works out. Maybe cut a few milion here and there and add as bonuses instead but its possible to piece it together,

If you look at previous posts here they wrote Milans budget this year is 70 mil-(https://sempremilan.com/sky-milan-70m-budget-summer-2023)

We spend 60 mil so far-(https://sempremilan.com/mn-how-milans-business-affects-2023-24-accounts)

And we got 65+10 for Tonali I think so 75 in total, not 80 I guess-

So worst case say 10 mil left of the summer budget and 65 for Tonali. 75 in total. They can throw around 5-10 in add ons and still get those players. If not, loan Dominguez with obligation to buy. Should work out

    1. the budget was 35M not 70M.. should have digged up something that isnt from before M&M got fired.
If they had 70 Milan wouldve had a new striker already and Tonali would not have been sold

      1. Jfc. You don’t know anything about football. The budget or anything at all. You say 35m but that was never confirmed. And Tonali left because Tonali wanted to leave on his own.

      2. We have same budget like last season maldini get 50m euro + sale player. We already use 20m euro to pay sporting ,that is why leao can renew. So that budget reduced to 30m euro + sale player like tonali . Maybe can increase if ACM success sell rebic, origi, junior or saladmaker

  3. Lol low-balling. I take you aren’t very much following anything. You don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. Stop acting as if you know what’s going behind the scenes.

  4. When Milan sign another 3-4 players, this guy insisting we only have 35 million left to spend will be eating his own words. Lol

  5. Initially we had between 55 to 70 million, but spent 20 million of it to renew Leao, down to 25-50. Spent 20 on Pulisic, 20+ on Raindeer and 16 on RLC so 56.

  6. People mentioning the budget all the time need to chill. It has been reported several times that Furlani has increased the budget depending on what is needed. I think the fixed budget was only for Maldini since he had such a bad window last season and wanted to have the final say this season. Milan earned 120 million on the Champions League alone so there is lots of economic headroom now. They just want to cut the cost whenever possible and that is understandable in today’s market. Milan need to be smarter than the other Italian teams and so far we are! Milan can absolutely pay 40-50 million euros for Chukwueze+Danjuma but they don’t necessarily want to do that because it’s not worth it. With another 3-4 signings incoming, you bet the budget is not 30 million and not even 50 million…
