Moretto: Milan have clear favourite in No.9 pursuit with other link ruled out

Journalist Matteo Moretto has named the striker that is at the top of AC Milan’s wish list, while ruling out another option that has been repeatedly linked.

Even though there are a number of important games left between now and the end of the season, there is already a lot of buzz surrounding potential summer reinforcements.

It seems that the Milan management plan to make a major investment in the summer to sign a top centre-forward, especially given that Olivier Giroud might well leave for the MLS and Luka Jovic’s deal is expiring.

How much exactly is a ‘major investment’? Well, it was reported earlier today that Gerry Cardinale might need to give the green light to a fee that would break the club’s record in terms of expenditure on a single player, given that a new striker will cost €50m+.

Matteo Moretto of Relevo has given an update on Milan’s pursuit of a new No.9 in his latest column for the Daily Briefing on CaughtOffside.

“As far as I know, the primary objective to strengthen Milan’s attack is Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee. He’s the top of the list. Benjamin Sesko isn’t a name I would link to Milan right now,” he said.
