Moretto: Newcastle yet to make ‘official offer’ to Milan for Thiaw – the situation

By Ben Dixon -

In recent days, it has become more likely that Newcastle United would make a bid for Malick Thiaw, but a report has suggested that AC Milan have not received anything.

After their attempts for Fikayo Tomori were quickly rejected, Newcastle’s focus turned towards his German teammate, Thiaw, and whilst reports recently have claimed that the central defender is an option for the club, others have stated that things are looking positive.

This morning, this view was further reinforced, as a report claimed that a deal will seemingly be done this summer, with it seeming ‘likely’. However, a report from Matteo Moretto (via Radio Rossonera) has suggested the deal is not as advanced as may have been previously suggested.

According to the journalist, the Magpies are yet to present an official offer to the Rossoneri, but the interest in him is very much there, with Sven Botman sidelined and Eddie Howe an admirer.

Whilst Newcastle should not have any issues matching the asking price, the Diavolo are in no rush to sell Thiaw, considering he could be among the players that Paulo Fonseca considers for his defensive line. However, if an offer too good to refuse arrived, then it could not be passed up, and potentially other avenues could be pursued.
