Moretto: Qatari club makes official offer for Milan midfielder Adli – the latest

Yacine Adli’s position at AC Milan is a strange one. Last season, he played a pivotal role at the tail end of the season, helping cover bases when the midfield looked slim, and whilst he played an important part, he is not expected to be a part of Paulo Fonseca’s plans.

It is a difficult situation to navigate with Adli. He was originally an attacking midfielder who became a deeper player with ease towards the latter parts of the season and looked strong at points, but his future is seemingly not at the club.

Reports from earlier in the month suggested that should Youssouf Fofana arrive in the mercato, it could see two departures with Adli being one of those, and with the Portuguese coach wanting to strengthen the team physically, the midfielder does not fit that equation.

Of course, he can play a viable role within the squad, as we saw last season, but he does not provide the ideal profile for Fonseca, and it seems a departure is likely this summer following the recent reports of the Fofana pursuit.

According to Matteo Moretto (via Milan Eye on X), the Qatari club Al Sadd have presented an ‘official bid’ for the midfielder. However, it seems that the Frenchman has his eyes set on a move with higher prestige, given he is ‘not interested’ in a move at the moment.

  1. Adli won’t be sold, unless a good club shows interest, which is doubtful to say the least. He has already demonstrated he is ready to earn his position with hard work in trainings, even if he’s not given the chance to play at all. Also, he is not expensive with a gross of ~1M.

He seems to be one of the biggest fans of the club, or at least tries hard to bond with the fans, so I doubt he is going anywhere on his own.

  2. I hope he’ll end up proving Fonseca and others wrong. We need players with his attitude. And I do enjoy his passing skills and creativity.

  3. With Fofana in, I’d rather sell Pobega who has been struggling since he came back, he could generate some profits since he’s an academy product.

    1. To be frank, I don’t remember Pobega not struggling. He sometimes does not appear as a burden in the midfield, but he’s not excellent in any component and I don’t really see much of a development in the last few years.

  4. Adli is better than Musah, Pobega, and RLC. He’s already shown that he’s willing to bleed for a spot, why let him go?

  5. Sad if we sell Adil. Should absolutely be kept and watch him continue to develop either as a DM or his more natural position of AM. Either way the reported offer is 5M – which is a joke for a player with his kind of talent, creativity, and vision and as others mentioned his amazing attitude and love of the club.

Sell Pobega who is not a good player at all and to free up space.

  6. He shouldnt be sold. He has rare characteristic for milan midfielder and could be useful for the squad. Hes more technical than bennacer, reijnders or fofana…

  7. For me he was our best midfielder last season. Whenever Reijnders was undecisive and Bennacer looked like a child, Adli was the one who held the midfield together. He is not perfect and might not be a natural DM. But he possess more of the true DM qualities compared to out other midfielders. Coupled with his elite mentality, I believe Adli can become a huge player for Mialn

    1. Totally agree bro.. when reijnders play like a limbo and bennacer like a child in the park, there is Adli who help the squad to controlled the midfield. Hes passing more classy like de bruyne but unfortunately our striker isnt ready yet for that.. hahaha
