‘Maximum confidence and space’ – Moretto reveals why Milan management rejected Disasi move

AC Milan were quite open to making a move for Axel Disasi in January. Yet, the Frenchman did not arrive at Milanello.

It was clear throughout January that Milan were keen to add a defender to the squad. Ultimately, having four options for a three-player backline is more than a bit risky. So, throughout the month, attempts were considered.

However, no move was completed, with the Rossoneri having a pretty quiet month by all accounts.

No Disasi

Disasi was one of the most-linked players throughout the month. Considering the Diavolo’s relationship with Chelsea, it certainly made a lot of sense, given he was also out of the picture in London.

Despite the talks, though, a move did not go ahead, with the management actually stopping to deal to offer support for an already present option. As Radio Rossonera relays, Matteo Moretto has given the reason why no deal was done on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel.

“In January, Milan actually considered the acquisition of Axel Disasi from Chelsea. The player was repeatedly approached by the Rossoneri, who analysed the deal until the final days of the transfer window.

“In the end, however, the management decided to reject the Frenchman’s arrival in order to give maximum confidence and space to De Winter, also considering the versatility of Bartesaghi.”
