AC Milan are interested in signing Leon Goretzka on a free transfer but are evaluating the terms of the operation first.
Of all the names that have been linked with a move to Milan in the build-up to the summer transfer window, Goretzka’s is perhaps the one that has been mentioned the most. His contract expires at the end of the season, making him a very tempting free transfer opportunity.
Milan working on Goretzka
According to reports from Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano (via MilanNews), Milan’s summer window could take off with the possible arrival of Goretzka. It’s ‘a difficult negotiation for the club’, but one with some obvious upside given the absence of a transfer fee.
Juventus have recently re-established contact with the player’s agents. He is represented by the Roof agency, which also manages Ademola Lookman and Marcos Senesi, among others. Not coincidentally, they are both past and recent targets for the Bianconeri.
Milan are interested in the German midfielder though and have been working for some time to figure out how to mitigate the demands regarding salary and commissions, but competition for the former Schalke 04 player is fierce.
In Spain, Atlético Madrid nearly signed him in January. In England, several top clubs are aware of Goretzka’s situation. In the coming weeks, the 31-year-old should decide what he wants to do as the next step.
As a reminder, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported the terms of Milan’s supposed offer to the player’s camp: a three-year contract worth €5m net per season.
