AC Milan are very keen on renewing Rafael Leao’s contract, despite the 2028 deadline, but this doesn’t mean that their overall approach has changed.
Leao has been an important player for Milan in the last few weeks, scoring four goals in his last five league appearances. Clearly, the No.10 has regained some form and considering the Rossoneri have had some heavy absences, it was certainly well-timed.
The hope is that he will be able to continue on this path, especially since Massimiliano Allegri has put a lot of focus on the Milan star. Before the game against Parma, the player himself also made it clear that the gaffer’s support has helped a lot.
Renewal in the works
Amid the recent success, it’s no surprise that we are talking about Leao’s future again, though it should be noted that Milan have wanted a renewal for quite some time. Indeed, despite the current 2028 deadline, a renewal would be a way of showing their support.
This was reported by Matteo Moretto in his latest YouTube video, stating that the Rossoneri could even renew the deal for 2-3 years. Having said that, the overall strategy hasn’t changed: if a good enough offer arrives, like with any other player, the management will evaluate it.

Between Leao and pulisic, I find we should be giving priority to Pulisic! I am fed up of Leao. He has the wrong spirit and gives a bad example. We were on the upward rise when Leao was injured, but as soon as he came back, his walking around the pitch as an influential player gives the wrong message to the rest of the team. Normally everyone was fighting for the team and now we are losing that fight. Other than him, estupinian, fofana, maignan, ricci and even Allegri should have been better. Its sad that saelemaekers and pulisic wasted their chances but we should have been only regretting that it was only 2-0 instead of 4-0 or 5-0. We have no excuses. I do not think we will win the scudetto this year. We started losing it when both pulisic and Leao wasted clear chances in that juventus game. It became clear that this was not our scudetto year. Seeing that leao would be renewed is sad because it would mean that other hard workers would be sacrificed for this lazy leao, no matter his talent.
Sell Leao, Gimenez, Ruben, and Nkunku, find two forwards an Milan will rise like Phoenix, bring Tonali and Tijan I will like to see them playing together…
Leao is a great player and we should keep him if we can. But he should NOT be seen as the leader, spirit, or talisman of this team, because he shows the lax commitment to winning that separates us from Napoli and Inter right now.
Why do we keep losing to lower-table sides? We beat Napoli and then barely tie Pisa. We beat Roma and then tie Parma.
It’s because our players get up to play when they feel like it, not for every match. And this is the kind of player Leao is unfortunately. He will ball out against Real Madrid and Inter, but then he expects it to be easy and to relax when we play Pisa.
We need to build the team around the players that give 1000% for every match and who understand that going to Parma is a tough match that requires everything.
Players like Pulisic and Gabbia and Modric show this. Salad too.
I like Leao a lot, but he’s not the kind of player you build around.
Leao literally did more than any of those players in the Parma game. Including Modric. Isn’t it embarrassing to be that person? “I like someone a lot but I’ll lie about the last game to make a point”. Embarrassing.
What else you want him to do, cross the ball and then run to meet it to score? Smh. Did u watch the game? How many setups you want him to provide to his teammates in one game?!
Oh and he also scored. 7 games, 5 goal contributions and this international break will probably be spent bashing him again
Expect a lowball offer and a repeat of the event with Maignan.
