‘Away from Milan’ – Moretto suggests Nkunku could leave after January treatment

Throughout January, AC Milan were looking for a suitor for Christopher Nkunku, and it seems that this may have an effect.

After a disappointing first few months, Milan approached the January mercato seemingly ready to part ways in a situation reminiscent of that involving Alvaro Morata last season. Throughout the month, then, there was plenty of interest.

Even towards the end of the month, it seemed that there would be some chance of him leaving to facilitate a move for Jean-Philippe Mateta. However, no moves were made in or out for either Frenchman.

Nkunku’s future in the air?

The forward got back on the scoresheet against Bologna on Tuesday night, but there are now suggestions that the Rossoneri could lose out on the former Chelsea man in the future.

As Matteo Moretto now suggests, via MilanNews, he could actually fulfil the January suggestions and depart this year, but it may be a move pushed for by the 28-year-old after the treatment he received last month.

“Nkunku could go away in this winter market, but in the end, he stayed. The Frenchman was treated a lot by Fenerbahçe and other Italian clubs also asked for information, but as we have always told you, Nkunku wanted to stay at Milan.

“His cards will be played, but it is clear that the treatment he received has made the relations between the parties crunch, especially with the attacker’s entourage. Although it was never officially put on the market, Nkunku had in fact been put on the market.

“We’ll see what happens in the summer, Milan will come back to listen to offers and Nkunku will then decide which way to take, maybe even away from Milan.”

  1. Who cares. He’s a basic player who we paid 40m for and has one of the highest salaries on the team. Not even close to worth it. Sell asap.

    1. If you’re saying that obviously don’t know much about football. Nkunku doesn’t fit the system Allegri uses, that doesn’t make him a “basic player”. Have you seen him play prior to his injury? Even with that, he’s proving he can adapt.

        1. confidence is also key… he is starting to be more comfortable in the league and you can see that with his recent dribbles and aggressiveness

having the option to pick players from Nkunku, Gimenez, Fulkrug, Mateta/Kean/Vlahovic for the next season’s bench is still a W for us after having seasons of complete d0g$h1t players…

aside from our main attackers Puli and Leao, I think Fulkrug will be redeemed for 5th seat (under 14M is quite cheap). so seat n3 and n4 are up for the taking right now… if Gimenez issue was actually his injury and Nkunku keeps progressing, we might not even need an attacker

          1. I still can’t see Leao or Pulisic in their new positions. Yes, both score more considering both were off the field for at least half the games.

But both will contribute to the team more if they are wingers or behind the striker. That’s why some of our worst games were when both of them played together as a striking duo.
