Milan got to the last day of the mercato without a striker having arrived despite the many links. Lorenzo Colombo went out on loan to Monza, and after various targets were linked it was Jovic who joined on deadline day.

According to Matteo Moretto of Relevo, Milan signed Jovic on a free transfer from Fiorentina and therefore it is a permanent deal rather than a loan as was reported at the time.

The striker signed a one-year contract with an option for three more seasons if the parties decide to continue together at the end of the campaign. La Viola meanwhile do not even have a resale clause.

The move to Milan offers Jovic the opportunity to get back on his feet and become a protagonist again, having had a difficult few years since leaving Eintracht Frankfurt for Real Madrid.
