Moretto: Walker ‘99% done’ as Milan will seal deal with Man City tomorrow

Kyle Walker is just one step away from completing a move to AC Milan. An agreement has already been reached with the latter and the final details with Manchester City should be sorted tomorrow, a report claims.

Walker has ended up in the spotlight of Italian media amid heavy interest from Milan, who are looking to bolster the squad this month. After initially focusing on Marcus Rashford, it seems the remaining ‘English slot’ will be used on the Man City man instead.

According to Matteo Moretto, responding to a post on X, the deal is in the final stages and could be closed as soon as tomorrow. Fikayo Tomori now looks set to remain but as the journalist highlights, the Walker transfer doesn’t depend on his exit.

“Walker is 99% done and for me, it will be closed by tomorrow. In the end, I don’t think he will be able to leave for free, I think they are defining a paid loan of €1m with a low buy-out option. As soon as I have confirmation I will write,” he wrote.

The upcoming days will hopefully be lively on the mercato for Milan as reinforcements are desperately needed. The 2-0 defeat against Juventus, despite Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s words, certainly proved that this is the case.

    1. All that Kyle needs to do is not go forward but just sit on that right hand side and stop players from creating chances. He can do that much, I know is what he can do because the man still can play a full 90 minute game while occasionally running forward.

If Milan can get Felix as well that is a solid option for the team, shift Noah out to the PL is key but I would be all over Milan getting Felix.

    1. Midfielder is good idea, but striker is now what we need. We need to go on 4-4-2 formation , If Jovic start play , then we still need one more player because Abraham show us many time this season he is not good enough for us.
      If we don’t score, we can’t win…

  1. I just don’t get this move. It’s true that the quality at RB is lacking, but we can alternate Calabria and Emerson and make it to the summer.

Whereas the opposite flank has only one player and no depth. midfield has two burnt-out starters and no depth. Center Forward position has two groupies
and no Rock Star… But we’re after a 34yo whom the parent club us cutting in January… (I don’t think the narrative is that he wants a new challenge)

    There are more pressing needs.

    1. Milan lost a lot of money and points investing in Emerson Royal and Pavlovic, so gaining money from supercoppa they, invest to try cover that right back position. That means they expect in this 6 months Walker will be able to upgrade play, and they will not lose money short term. Calabria is gone, thats obvious, and what will happen in next summer depends all about this year position.

    2. Have you see how many goals have been conceded from the right side?

If you had you wouldn’t have made this comment. Walker is a welcome addition, leader, and the slower pace of serie a will be great for him.

Next on the list is a midfielder to help Fofana and Tijani because they are exhausted.

        1. He’s been pretty damn good if you look at what he has done on the right hand side for England and City. And is a big upgrade on our entire defense because his bad is still way better than what we have.

          1. Walker is great. He’s older but I think this is a huge upgrade. Our RBs are wretched. I think Walker and Pulisic will work great together.

        2. Please when will Milan learn. Are we focused on ancient experienced people or young talented and hungry ones?
Look at Moratta, nothing to show, he has gotten to his peak.

We always receive sad news or will I call it consolation news after transfer season has end. We’ll now be hearing, “we wanted to go for Victor Oshimen but he has already made his choice.” “We wanted to go for this…that etc”

They won’t make it now. They’re bringing in someone who have much experience and achievement but no hunger again.

With walkers experience can he run? Or beat up on counter attacks?

        3. “You haven’t watched Walker for the past 2 years and seen how bad he is, apparently.”

And apparently you haven’t watched Emerson for the past 6 months to know even a monkey could do better job than him.

      1. In case you haven’t paid attention, ManCity have been conceding a lot from Walker’s side.
        He isn’t reliable defensively …

    3. Nope it will be a dumb idea to think this team can keep relying on Calabria and Emerson, they both have been a liability when team attack. So I think Kyle is a good decision and Calabria along with Florenzi will be out of contract by the summer so Kyle walker makes sense even more. Emerson is such a below average player that no matter what if the club keeps throwing him on during the season the team will not get top 4.

  2. I think it’s a good move. Right now that’s the weakest spot in our starting 11. (Depending on if Theo feels like playing or not) Yes, we have other needs but there is nothing saying we can’t make another signing.

  3. The real question is if all those players was Fonseca’s idea or our management… because we know Fonseca want Abraham and also we know he want Emerson Royal… both players was the worst players what we buy.
Now there is a Conceicao and we want to buy Kile Walker and another names are Joao Felix… big difference in request of both coaches..

    1. It is not the coach it is possibility.
We hear all those names, but Cardinale have limit of expenses. Other management decide which players are going to buy, depending on price and coach desires and also availability. In some moment specific name can’t be bought, but in next – it is.
Thats why Walker now. His price dropped and Emerson flopped. They use this time to bring him. In summer one of those two are going to leave. Together with Calabria and Florenzi.
What will happen in attack no one knows.

    2. Milan wanted Zerkzee and not Abraham, Abraham isn’t a terrible player because all you need from him is to carry the ball, put in a final pass and sometimes dribble and create space. He is on a dry loan until the summer so its a good place to be in having Abraham to do everything I just mentioned. The biggest issue is if coach can figure out what the issue is with this team because I have a strong suspicion that its more than just the quality of players.

    3. Milan wanted Zirkzee and not Abraham, Abraham isn’t a terrible player because all you need from him is to carry the ball, put in a final pass and sometimes dribble and create space. He is on a dry loan until the summer so its a good place to be in having Abraham to do everything I just mentioned. The biggest issue is if coach can figure out what the issue is with this team because I have a strong suspicion that its more than just the quality of players.

  4. I think it’s a good move. Just wonder who should be removed from our UCL spots. We‘ll need to free space for him and Jimenez. Jovic wasn’t registered so he‘s no option. In attack we are already lacking depth, so we‘d need to replace a winger with an Italian. Same in midfield. Obvious option is to remove Emerson, which would probably mean selling him already. In any case it requires some further deals and I really don’t understand how we can pass 3 weeks of mercato having done nothing yet, not even the minimum move of selling 4th striker Jovic.

  5. (Pros)
1 .We do not pay transfer fee
    2. experienced
    3. agreed to a wage within our budget (much less than what Theo is offered to continue with us).
    Cons
    1. Bristish
    2. Bristish
    ….

    1. LOL. Fitness is am issue. He has never given much offensively. As Calabria is leaving in the summer I’m not opposed to this signing.

  6. There is obviously no discussion on the value of Walker. But he is a player that has based a lot of his game in his absolutely out of scale physicality and speed. We need to see how much he has left. I would not be surprised to see him ending his career as CB.

  7. he just old version of Tomori, fast but not smart defender, he play CB/RB, can we just put Tomori RB Gabbia CB then use budget to get proven scorer,
Osimhen, Vlahovic is on market, those Celtic Japanese ST he has Inzaghi touch, CR7 expiring contract, even Immobile/ Icardi is better than what we’ve now
