Mother of Juventus midfielder confirms Milan’s previous attempts to sign her son

By Oliver Fisher -

The mother and agent of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has confirmed that AC Milan tried to sign her son in the past before he ended up coming to Italy.

Adriano Galliani – the former CEO of Milan – became famous for his manoeuvres in the transfer window, particularly towards the end of the mercato when he managed to pull off shock deals nobody had wind of.

Galliani also looked to the free agent market for players who could do well for the Rossoneri, especially towards the end of Silvio Berlusconi’s ownership when there was not as much money available to invest on players.

The mother and agent of Rabiot has revealed some background to SportWeek on Milan’s attempts to sign her son, which were reported at the time.

“I was lucky enough to meet a great person like Adriano Galliani, in 2014 [when he played at PSG] he wanted to bring my son to Milan, but there was never a real negotiation,” she said (via PianetaMilan).

Rabiot would eventually move to Juventus on a free transfer with a high salary, so it will remain a mystery how things would have gone had he joined Milan.
