Mundo Deportivo: Milan eyeing Barcelona veteran – one condition must be met

By Oliver Fisher -

A report from Spain has claimed that AC Milan are interested in signing Barcelona centre-back Inigo Martinez, but one condition must be met first.

According to what is being reported by Mundo Deportivo (via Radio Rossonera), the Milan management could possibly make moves in the defensive department this summer and an opportunity might be Inigo Martinez.

The 33-year-old is set to leave Barcelona as he has no space in the Blaugrana squad and has a contract expiring in June 2025. Milan, according to the source, would try to carry out the operation only if Fikayo Tomori were to leave.

For Tomori to leave the Rossoneri, however, an irrefutable offer of €50-60m will be needed, which would allow the club to make a large capital gain. The concrete interest in the central defender is that of Newcastle, with whom Milan has excellent relations as shown by the Sandro Tonali deal.

A few days ago, the source that broke the Tomori-Newcastle story reported that the player is not keen on the idea of joining them either and instead wants to remain with the Rossoneri, who can offer Champions League football.

Martinez meanwhile made 25 appearances for Barca last season across all competitions having arrived last summer from Athletic Bilbao.

  1. Why? He’s slower than my dead grandma why? every time every time same mistakes instead of moving forward we keep left behind in the end the league is gonna be like it was inter juventus napoli Roma Atalanta and then Milan why?

    1. Lol we are linked with a veteran CB like Inigo (or Hummels) not as a starter but more an experienced rotation option, ie replacing Kjaer. I agree he’s not magnificent but rather than pay extortionate wages to the likes of Sergio Ramos, who is another free agent, let’s not waste too much of the budget on what is essentially a backup role.

Martinez has plenty of experience in La Liga and would likely not demand a huge contract or starting role.

      1. exp or not why we need to do the same strategy getting an exp cb who isnt going to be a starter no just a rotation . why ? look what we shoukd do find player that can help tomori max age 28 least age 24 sell kalulu sign a player closer to the age of thiaw and younger even least age 19 but a true cb like his height has to be 1,85cm+ and then we starting ro moving forward . these 33+yrs old gonna really start being injury prone like kjaer starting to be and this strategy doesnt help us at all coz we are -1 player every season

    2. Why? I’ll explain it to you my good man.
It’s simple, the Milan management STINK 💩 merda.
They have no idea and when negotiating for a player they scare the agent and top players from coming tyth club.
      Milan need a miracle

  2. “is that of Newcastle, with whom Milan has excellent relations as shown by the Sandro Tonali deal.”
We sold them a player that couldn’t play for a whole season. Not sure it is as excellent as we think. They’re yet to get anything meaningful from that deal

  3. WTF, please try get italian or squad from primavera

    like Simic for deffender
    like Nicolò Rovella deffensive mildfilder
like Adrian Bernabe for attacking midfielder
    like Wilfried Gnonto for attacking
