Musah talks adaptability, being at Milan, Kessie comparison and Thanksgiving surprise

By Oliver Fisher -

Yunus Musah has spoken about his first few months as an AC Milan player, also revealing that his brother is a fan of the club and judges him as such.

Musah was one of the last summer signings to arrive and he has certainly been among the most impressive, playing in a mezzala position, a deeper-lying midfield role and even wide on the right so far showing his versatility.

The energy and dynamism that the 20-year-old has brought since his arrival from Valencia have fans calling for him to start most games, and while he will start against Fiorentina on Saturday as per multiple reports, he is suspended for the Borussia Dortmund game – the day before his 21st birthday – next Tuesday.

Musah spoke to SportMediaset from Milanello this afternoon about a number of topics from his position on the pitch to speaking multiple languages, and his words were relayed by MilanNews.

On the mood at Milanello: “We have a lot of faith in the group. We know what we are capable of doing and we never give up. Sometimes things don’t go as we want but the important thing is to always believe in it and stay united. That’s what we are doing.”

On his tactical flexibility: “It has always been my characteristic to play in many positions, due to the skills I have. I try to do it in the best possible way: if the coach asks me to, I try to do my best and help the team. I think I’m better in midfield as a mezzala, when I can make runs on the right. I like that role a lot.”

On scoring his first goal: “I want to score my first goal for the Rossoneri as soon as possible but the most important thing will be to win on Saturday.”

On his brother, a Milan fan: “He is very happy for me, that I am here at Milan. He judges me as always, he wants me to improve and he wants the best for me.”

On the match against Borussia Dortmund, the day before his birthday: “I expect a victory against Dortmund!”

On his multilingualism: “I think more in English, given that I spent my adolescence in London and I have many friends there. Then English is a global language. Do I remember words in the Venetian dialect? No, I was too young (laughs).”

On his relationship with Pulisic: “It’s wonderful to play with him here. Seeing his qualities that he is also showing off at Milan.”

On the evolution of football in the USA and the appeal of Milan in America  “For them it is a great thing that Christian and I are here at Milan, a great team. This helps the growth of football in America a lot: it gives confidence to the kids who grow up there, who know they can do it.”

Today is Thanksgiving: “Milan surprised us and cooked turkey, a traditional Thanksgiving dish.”

On the comparison with Kessie: “For me it’s nice to be called ‘new Kessie’ also because he was a very good player for Milan, so it’s a positive thing. But I try to play my game and then help Milan, as he has he also did it in the past.”

On Milan being the opportunity of a lifetime: “A good step for me, taking this path and arriving at Milan. I have always dreamed of playing for one of the best teams in the world and Milan, which has won so many Champions Leagues, is that. For me this step is very important, I wanted it do and I’m happy to have done it. I want to try to do my best to help this team.”
