Reports: Musah to Napoli ‘close’ as Milan and player reach agreements – the latest

Yunus Musah seems to be on the way out of AC Milan, in a move that has developed very quickly in the past 24 hours.

With the midfielder failing to level up after last season, there were always going to be doubts about next season. Especially, given the retention of Musah last summer – coincidentally, when Napoli called – was a gamble in itself for the club.

Nevertheless, the Partenopei’s interest did not die, and they have moved quickly this summer to bring the midfielder in.

Total agreement(s)

We start with the negotiations between the clubs, and Milan News, this evening, reports that there is an agreement in place between the two. In fact, only the final details are being ironed out as it stands, with a figure of around €25 million expected to be finalised. Considering the Rossoneri paid €22m, it is fantastic business.

It is not just one way, though. As Fabrizio Romano reports on his X account, the American has already reached an agreement with Napoli regarding ‘every detail’ of a contract, with a green light present.

Now, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before negotiations are wrapped up, as all parties are either finalising negotiations or have already finished.

    1. I think it’s the second one. People forget, Musah is 21 and he was never meant to be a starting player year 1. He was supposed to be behind RLC, Bennacer, Tiji, Fofana etc. Now we basically learnt what not to do and is ready for a good coach to exploit him.

    2. He was never a winger. Using a young player all over the field is a recipe for disaster. He was effective as a right midfielder helping to cover for a slow RB. He also became a blog favorite to rag on, even when he had decent games. ACM by the end of next year will be sorry.

    3. It’s definitely the second one. He was constantly put in position to fail by three coaches and the fans gave him the CDK treatment. Too toxic for him to continue with Milan, which is unfortunate. He’ll be a star for Napoli

  1. 25mil for Musah is a great deal. But I think he would have benefited from a loan spell out. Then bring him in a year and see how things look… His contract doesn’t expire ‘till ‘28

Conte has a way to get the best out of his players. And if he makes Musah shine then the fans will turn on this transfer…

      1. I’ve heard that several times for players who have gone on to have great careers.

ACM1989 is absolutely correct to use the qualifier ‘if’ – I wouldn’t be as certain as you that there’s not a good player in there to unlock.

  2. Mercato start 1. July?? Or?
Anyway great news we sell one of the most chaotic player in our squad with profit and for now we don’t need back-up because there is Fofana and Bondo…
    Next Chuk, Royal, Okafor

  3. Conte is bringing another McTominay out of Musah.

I think Napoli’s scouts are genuinely top-tier. They have a knack for identifying young players with great potential who are struggling to fit into their current teams. They did something similar with McTominay last season—Manchester United fans were even glad to see him go, thinking they were offloading a “useless” player. But guess who ended up winning Serie A’s Best Player of the Year?

I also understand that a team’s setup doesn’t always suit every player. Someone can flop in one system and thrive in another.

Take Charles De Ketelaere for example—he couldn’t quite deliver for us at AC Milan, but the moment he moved to Atalanta, his form skyrocketed.

Or look at Pulisic. He struggled at Chelsea, but today, he’s one of our most important players at Milan.

    1. I always rated McTominay high. He was one of few positives of the mess that is United nowadays. It’s more about having a coach with precise plan and an eye for players he needs to achieve it. I believe Musah will do good under Conte, might finally explode. He’s exactly his type of player. But not for us. So this is a good deal for both Napoli and Milan.

    2. I think Musah is another Hachim Mastour, he does not have the brains for it. McTominay is the oppsite, very smart and great at the fundamentals.

  4. My question is simple,”when are we going to start hearing HERE WE GO for Milan’s new signings. We’ve just been selling and other clubs are buying. Even the Modric we thought should be almost on his way here said he hasn’t made up his mind about coming to Milan, in an interview.

  5. Good luck to him. He wasn’t given a specific role and looked like he had a hard time adapting. This club is not an environment for young players to adapt at the moment. He seemed to lack vision, anticipation and ability to read the game fast enough to show the quality needed for his end product, whether it be beating his man 1 v 1, making a good cross, pass or accurate shot work. He showed flashes, rarely did it all come together. Something seemed to fail hin too often. His speed and decent skill is a foundation to work on. I doubt he has IT. He can be an average player at best. I don’t see him having the ceiling to be a protagonist at an elite level.

  6. Excellent. This half past 6 will not be a star in Milan.
    $25m let him go.

Milan should give more chances to Italian . Scout for more Dutch players too, Milan have always enjoyed success with Dutch players

  7. People forget that Conte recruited N’Golo Kante to Chelsea from a Leicester City that had just won the Premiere League title, and it was at Chelsea that Kante became a superstar.
Conte knows his defensive midfielders (who often play box to box) and I think Musah has the skill set that Conte is looking for.
Having followed Musah all these years, that’s the one position where he has done best and it’s a shame that none of the Milan coaches saw this.

Napoli will be playing Champions League next season and need reinforcements.
I predict great things for Musah under Conte.
Getting a master class defensive coach like Conte to straighten out all his bone headed decision making will be the turning point of his career.
