This morning, Napoli have confirmed the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri after the finalisation of his ordeal with AC Milan.
It has been a long time coming for Allegri to leave Milan, but it seemed inevitable that he would join Napoli. Indeed, the links started even before he had left the Rossoneri at the end of the season. As a result, the ordeal lasted a while to get him through the door.

At one point, it seemed a legal battle would ensue, with neither party willing to budge on their demands. Aurelio De Laurentiis even contacted Paolo Scaroni and then Zlatan Ibrahimovic was even contacted to free him up.
After all, reports suggested that the Swede was the major opposition to him heading to Naples.
Napoli confirm Allegri appointment
This morning, though, a deal was confirmed, with Napoli releasing a statement on their website to officially announce his position as their new manager, as can be seen below.
“SSC Napoli would like to welcome Massimiliano Allegri as our new first team head coach. Allegri has signed a contract with the club until 30 June 2029.
“After a long playing career – which included a stint with Napoli during the 1997/98 season – Max Allegri began his coaching journey in the 2003/04 campaign with Aglianese. In 2007/08, he led Sassuolo to their first-ever promotion to Serie B and also won the Serie C1 Super Cup that same year. A few months later, he made his Serie A coaching debut with Cagliari, finishing the season in ninth place and winning the Panchina d’Oro award.
“In 2010, he joined Milan, winning the club’s 18th Scudetto and sixth Italian Super Cup. From 2014 to 2019, he managed Juventus, winning five consecutive league titles, four consecutive Coppa Italia trophies and two Italian Super Cups. During this period he also led the Bianconeri to the Champions League final twice. After a two-year hiatus, he went back to manage Juventus, winning his fifth Coppa Italia in 2024. Last season, he was back in the dugout at Milan, finishing the campaign in fifth place.

He left me almost hating football after a year of watching Milan. The world cup has shown me why I love football. I hope Milan can return to some kind of fun football. I’m not really that hopeful, but it sure can’t be more boring than last season.
I’d like to thank Allegri for the only good thing that came from his comeback: sacking of Furlani & Moncada.
Too bad his awful performances didn’t result in Scaroni’s & Zlatan’s dismissals too but I guess we can’t have it all, eh?
This is why the Italian league is heading to extinction. Arrogance, allergic to new ideas, a use and reuse same old coaches, and musical chair coaches. I have no idea how well Napoli will do with Allegri. I could see them being competitive but in Champions league they Will shit the bed again
