The game between Napoli and AC Milan tomorrow will have a number of star-studded battles across the pitch, but perhaps none more so than the one between Victor Osimhen and Rafael Leao.
This morning’s Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) confirms that Osimhen recovered from the muscle problem he suffered while away with the Nigerian national team and he will therefore start the second leg at the Maradona.
The eyes of Italy, Europe and even the world will be on Osimhen as he looks to drag Napoli to a win but they will also be on Leao, given that the pair are the undisputed drivers of their respective sides.
The Portuguese winger is Milan’s golden man and Stefano Pioli will rely on him once again in the most important match of the season so far, one in which attacking space on the counter will be important.
Osimhen and Leao have another thing in common: both rose to prominence on the European scene with Lille. When Milan signed Leao in 2019, it was the Nigerian who took his place at the Ligue 1 club.
Since then, both have come a long way and now together they are worth more than €200m. The question of Leao’s future remains open, but the confidence that the parties will soon reach an agreement over a renewal is growing more and more.
