GdS: The latest on Osimhen’s condition as Napoli remain apprehensive

By Oliver Fisher -

Napoli are waiting anxiously to see if Victor Osimhen’s condition improves in view of the return leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday.

This morning’s La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) writes this morning that Napoli’s hopes of overturning Wednesday’s defeat against Milan in the second leg of the quarter-finals depend above all on the availability of the Serie A top scorer.

While Spalletti is confident that he will paly, given he said ‘Osimhen will be on the pitch on Tuesday for the second leg’ after the game, it will depend on the medical staff and the club who are worried about a possible relapse.

The Nigerian striker injured his adductor on international duty but the pain seems to disappeared and yesterday the former Lille man did a part of the training with the rest of the squad.

Today will be another important test after which Spalletti and the medical staff – also speaking with the player – will decide if it will be appropriate to call him up for tomorrow’s match against Verona.

A few minutes on the pitch on Saturday could help, or it might be that only workouts that stimulate and strengthen the muscles correctly will be permitted.
