Antonio Conte secured the Scudetto with Napoli last night but his future with the club is far from certain. After the game, president Aurelio De Laurentiis stated that he will ‘beg’ the manager to stay.
Despite winning the league and performing well throughout the season, Conte’s first year at Napoli has been filled with tension. The manager (as seen so many times before) has publicly criticised the Partenopei management and as De Laurentiis went to hug him last night, the manager didn’t look super happy.

Milan have been linked with Conte in the last few months, as well as other clubs, and it seems a move is indeed possible despite the contract with Napoli. Speaking to Rai last night, as transcribed by MilanNews, De Laurentiis stated that he cannot force Conte to stay for next season.
Will Conte stay?
“Conte has a three-year contract. If he wants to stay and aim to win the Champions League, which in my opinion is something that would crown his career, we are all ready to assist him as we should.
“If his calling is somewhere else, I never want to force anyone. I will beg him to stay, but I certainly cannot force him to,” he stated.
When will you meet?
“Soon.”
Igli Tare will be tasked with choosing Milan’s next manager, as the new sporting director of the club, but it seems he has other names in mind. That being said, if Conte were to give his availability, the situation would surely change for the Rossoneri after last year’s mistake.

You can say all you want about De Laurentiis’s particularity, but this man has a clear vision. KdB to Napoli would be a great gift too.
Let’s be real this management will never get Conte
Milan had their chance to get Conte last year. Zlatan’s massive ego blew it.

Conte to Milan is impossible. Conte has too many demands and wants too much control for Gerry.
The thing is, ADL didn’t have to upgrade a whole lot – this Napoli squad is bare bones. NO replacements for Kvara and Osi and Conte still delivered a Scudetto, pretty much with one arm tied behind his back.
Yes, if Conte went to Milan he could win the Scudetto. Milan clearly has a better team than Napoli. But I doubt Milan has the environment to persuade Conte. He has demands and wants control. Napoli sold Kvara only after Conte gave the permission. Conte refused to let him go in the summer, and changed his mind in the winter as Kvara kept demanding a transfer. This is what Conte himself said. Napoli with all of ADL’s BS gave a lot of space and power to Conte. I doubt he would leave Napoli to get into trouble with Milan’s bunch of “management”. If he moves from Napoli, I see him going to Juve.
Napoli’s net spending in the summer for Conte was 130 mln. Yes, they sold Kvara in the winter, but they did so bc Conte decided it was not worth keeping a player who wanted to go. Napoli tried to get Garnacho or Adeyemi as a replacement, but they failed. It seems that Conte’s issues with ADL started at that point.
Conte is the best coach for Serie A, but he has demands in both the transfer market and freedom in decision making. If Reijnders is sold, Conte will probably not be pleased with a 20-30 mln alternative.
