AC Milan were subject to contact with Napoli last season over Yunus Musah. Those talks failed last summer, but now they have been restarted.
It is difficult to work out Yunus Musah’s situation. For Milan, finding his role or spell of positivity is difficult. In fact, since joining, he has not shown a spell of promise in one area or role. Instead, good performances have been few and far between.
Nevertheless, there has still been some interest in him here and there. Napoli were the big topic last summer, with a loan and purchase sought. However, the talks never really progressed, with the Rossoneri looking to ‘gamble’ on his future.
A year on, the Partenopei and Antonio Conte have returned to the picture, with hopes of signing the American, as Fabrizio Romano reports. The Italian’s appreciation of the player has not dwindled, and with him out of favour in Milano, it could be an opportunity.
Musah is reportedly keen on the idea, and there are no issues on his end foreseen. For now, the club will discuss a package with the Diavolo, and considering he arrived for around the €20 million mark, it should not be difficult to close between the parties.

So the player who most Milan fans think is trash is wanted for the 2nd summer in a row by the coach that most Milan fans dreamed of Milan hiring for 2 years.
Do not give Musah to Conte. You will regret it. He will turn him into a demon.
The kid has had a rough go these 2 seasons at Milan mostly because of playing under 3 different coaches in about 6 different positions without being used consistently in any of them.
All he needs is a defined role and stability.
Let’s not forget that Kessie wasn’t the player we saw in the last 3 seasons at Milan in his first 2 seasons. Pioli put him in his proper role, and the rest was history.
Keep Musah, give Napoli Bennacer.
I agree. Musah has ability, he just needs the right manager.
If this goes through, it’s the only good news of the summer so far.
No, he won’t. Musah plays in different positions because the coaches are trying to find something he’s good at. He can run, dribble into traffic and lose the ball. Conte will work miracles with him in the same way he did with Zaza.
that’s the problem, if 3 previous coaches couldn’t handle him, till when we will wait for him?.. and I can relate why conte wanted him probably because of musah playing style is matched with conte’s tactics.. so, instead of keeping him and we don’t know when the player will explode, better to cash him.
The 3 previous coaches were all fired.
And if you wanna cash in on him, sell him abroad, don’t give him to Conte.
Foreign clubs aren’t interested. He’s a runner, not a footballer.
Pioli couldn’t figure out what to do with Saelemaekers. He went to Roma, played the same position consistently, and voila – much better player.
And what exactly do you see in Musah buddy ?
Musah played 5000 minutes under 3 different coaches and never managed to convince a single one. It’s funny that many were convinced that De Ketelaere is not fit with us after just 1500 minutes but still somehow see something in Musah. We had better results before Fonseca started to rely on him and after Conceição used a 3-4-3 and ditched him.
He played 6 different positions, why ? Because he was unconvincing in every single one.
He can’t be a winger because he has no creativity, no passing ability and his last goal dates back to january 2022 !
He can’t be a fullback because he can’t cross correctly and is too erratic and not reliable defensively.
He is no central midfielder for the same reasons related to creativity, vision and positional awarness.
He “might” be a destroyer because he can tackle and has a good engine but again he tries too much to dribble. I’ll never forget that goal against Fiorentina when he gifted them the ball while trying to dribble towards our goal.
I don’t think I ever saw a player subbed before halftime not once but TWICE because his performance was so poor.
I know he is young, he has potential but what did he show football wise. Aside from sheer athleticism, this kid has shown nothing that encourages us to keep him. He has the football IQ of an amoeba and his “skills” aren’t something you can’t learn on day 1 of training.
You say Napoli wants him, isn’t Napoli allowed to make mistakes ? Were all their transfers pitch perfect ?
If we decide to start a track&field team or a rugby team, I’ll keep him, but otherwise I’m open to sell him, although maybe not to Napoli because we should never sell to a direct rival. Although is Napoli (1st) rivaling a club that finished 8th ?
De Ketelaere is a forward that Pioli used as a midfielder. Thats why de Ketelaere failed at Milan. Since Pioli stayed, CDK had to go.
Musah is not a good decision maker with the ball at his feet, just like Kessie wasn’t a good decision maker, just like Gattuso wasn’t. So Pioli relieved Kessie from those duties and just had him do the defensive work. Thats what Musah needs.
It’s not Napoli that wants him but Conte. Conte seems to see something in Musah, buddy.
Either you are a football genius, or Conte has no idea and is looking for one, because there is no third option. All of what you mentioned cannot be fixed by anyone, not even Conte. A low football IQ is something that cannot be improved, and then the conclusion that Conte is ignorant is imposed on me.
Every coach, even the geniues like Guardiola, Klopp, Mourinho and so on sometimes desire a player that ends up not leveling up to the expectations. Conceição, who while was mediocre with us, was actually a very successfull coach, personally asked for Félix and look at how this turned out to be. Sometimes a coach sees something in a player but it turns out to be different.
What I’m describing in Musah is just what I’ve seen, and I think when I say that he dribbled towards our defenses which led to Fiorentina scoring, that he got a stup!d red against GNK Dinamo Zagreb or that he was subbed twice in the first half because of his poor performances, I’m merly stating facts that everyone observed.
If you think Musah has shown something beyond speed, stamina and strength or that he has genius moments feel free to point out these instances.
But again, I don’t think we should sell him to Napoli. Either loan him or sell him outside of serie A.
I’m far from crying for him, but it won’t be that he’s the only one to blame for all of this. They brought him and they knew that he was box to box in a 4-3-3 formation, but they never used him, but in a double pivot or as a right wing, neither of which suits him. Conte plays that system and will replace him with McTominay. And in the end, I repeat again: either you are a genius or Conte is an ignoramus, so he gives 20 million for a player who has no football IQ. We will see which of you two is right 😀
I agree. Musah needs a loan out. Not a sale.
As much as I want to see Musah fulfil his potential here, well, that’s just the thing with football. Sometimes certain players just didn’t work with certain teams. Too many examples for this.
And as things stand now, we’ll be better off selling him. For all parties involved. Yes he might somehow do wonder in Napol, but again, that’s just football.
Amazing, so Theo and Leao are trash but Musah should be kept?
Thanks Gerry
He’s a headless chicken bro, it’s not about his ability, but decision making is 0, and his finishing is even worse than 0
That explains why Conte is looking for him? What will Conte headless player? Conte must have lost his mind or he saw something in this guy.
Now please don’t give us false hope!!! That’s just cruel.
In my opinion, dont sell him to rival for top 1-4 serie A. Give him one more season under allegri, maybe he can use him like he use khedira in the past
A match made in heaven. Musah is exactly Conte’s type of player.
Musah is great player who play with wrong coaches. He cant be sold.
He can still be a somewhat decent backup. Perhaps a loan would work best for Musah to regain his confidence and develop. Then, Tare and Max can decide.
Imagine Musah at Napoli being selected the Player of the Season next year.
Who wants to bet that Musah goes to Napoli on loan with the right to buy for 15-17 million over three financial years. If it is not shown, it is returned to us, if it is shown, it goes for less than it was bought for. That’s Milan’s policy. They like to help the competition, because Napoli will need money to bring in reinforcements.
Go on and win balon d’or at Napoli. He has been here for long enough and has nothing left to offer to this club. Good luck in Napoli.

Made in the USA
Musah is more Italian than anything else. He was born in the US when his parents were on vacation there and was only a few months old when his parents moved to Italy, where he lived for 9 years, playing for the local youth club in Castelfranco Veneto.
His parents then moved to London, where he joined the Arsenal youth academy. After 7 years in England, he had been called up to all of the English youth sides from U15 to U18. He then moved to Valencia in 2019 at age 17.
It was at Valencia that US contacts discovered that he had a US birth certificate and offered him a spot on the senior USMNT side at age 18.
So, he’s hardly ever lived in the US, has an Italian passport, speaks fluent Italian, and is more Italian than all of Milan’s players except the few actually born in Italy.
