GdS: Napoli target Milan goalkeeper but a deal remains unlikely

By Oliver Fisher -

Napoli have registered an interest in signing AC Milan’s veteran back-up goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu, according to a report.

Milan face a number of questions going into the mercato regarding the goalkeeping position as they must decide whether to renew Antonio Mirante’s contract which expires on 30 June,  while also deciding on whether or not to send Alessandro Plizzari out on loan again.

Mike Maignan and Tatarusanu’s permanence seemed to be certainties, but La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) are reporting that Napoli have targeted the latter for the role of back-up to Alex Meret.

Salvatore Sirigu is also on the wish list of sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli. However, the feeling is that Tatarusanu – who is under contract with Milan until June 2023 – will remain with the Rossoneri shirt. He is held in high regard and moments such as his penalty save against Lautaro Martinez in the derby prove how valuable he can be.
