FT: Napoli 2-0 Milan

The game ends 2-0 after one goal in each half by Napoli. Milan struggled to get going in attack, even if they had some good moments, and they were punished after some individual mistakes at the back. As a result, the Rossoneri are out of the Supercoppa Italiana. Only Serie A remains.

90'

Seven minutes added on.

87'

McTominay with a HUGE miss for Napoli, that should have been 3-0 for sure.

83'
Yellow card for Tomori

A brawl breaks out after Tomori’s clearance way after the referee had blown the whistle, but McTominay also continued after the whistle… Yellow card for both as a result.

75'
Third sub for Milan...

On: Modric.

Off: Jashari.

72'

Very good cross from Estupinan there and it almost reached RLC, who looked to be ina perfect position before the defence headed it away.

68'
First subs for Milan...

On: Athekame, Fofana.

Off: Saelemaekers, De Winter.

64'
Goal for Napoli...

Hojlund doubles the lead for Napoli after turning De Winter inside out. He did that all by himself, but that’s horrible defending by the Milan defender. Maignan perhaps could have done better too.

Napoli 2-0 Milan

54'

Maignan denies Rrahmani’s shot from outside the box! Nicely done by the keeper.

46'
We are back underway!

Milan need to find the back of the net to get back into the game, which is easier said than done…

Napoli 1-0 Milan

HT: Napoli 1-0 Milan

The Partenopei are in the lead thanks to Neres’ tap-in, but truth be told, it was a pretty even first half. Milan had some good chances that they perhaps should have done better with, but ultimately, Conte’s men were more clinical in the box.

46'

Maignan does really well to keep out Hojlund’s shot there at the near post.

45'

Two minutes added on.

39'
Goal for Napoli...

Well, I warned about Neres, even if he only needed a tap-in here to find the back of the net. Maignan got a hand to Hojlund’s cross but he only steered it right into the path of Neres, making it very difficult for the Milan defenders. De Winter should have done better on Hojlund, though.

Napoli 1-0 Milan.

38'
Yellow card for Rabiot

A pretty reckless tackle by Rabiot on Di Lorenzo, even if he perhaps got a touch on the ball.

37'
BIG CHANCE WASTED!

Great counter-attacking chance after a lovely pass by Pulisic to start the move. However, Saelemaekers’ pass is slightly behind Nkunku, and the Frenchman’s shot is over the bar.

36'

David Neres has been very good and lively for Napoli so far, creating some havoc for Milan at the back.

35'

Nice attack there by Milan to create some pressure, moving the ball quickly in tight areas, but Rabiot’s header is over the bar in the end.

29'

Some strange moments last few minutes. Hojlund should have had two yellow cards already, for the simulation and a tackle on Maignan, while Rabiot somehow avoided a yellow too for a pretty clear kick on Politano. Ah well…

22'
Yikes...

Maignan drops the ball after attempting to collect Napoli’s corner, resulting in a big chance for the Partenopei (but it’s squandered, phew!).

21'

Hojlund with a clear simulation there. The referee thankfully didn’t award anything but that should’ve been a yellow.

16'

Another good chance! Tomori finds Nkunku in the box, and the Frenchman’s header eventually reaches Saelemaekers on the volley. Hard shot to convert, though, and it’s not on target.

12'

Really good defending from Estupinan there on Politano, shoving him out of the way. Hopefully, the start of a good evening for the left-back.

    1. 😀 You are just downplaying Inter. I believe you are the favorites to win the Super Coppa. Anyways it could go in all directions with all 4 teams even if Bologna probably is the least likely team to win it.

      1. Chivu has so far won only one big game, vs Roma, and even that with a lot of difficulty and suffering. The rest of big games (Napoli, Milan, Juve, Atletico M, Liverpool) have all been lost, and I am sure we will lose again.

        1. Well to be fair to you then its actually a reasonable assessment Inter fan but it can also be argued that the cups has their own lifes. Either way time will tell how it goes but I would argue that you guys has the strongest squad with the most depth amongst the 4 teams which could be decisive at this point of the season where a lot of players probably could need a rest.

          And Milan down 1-0 🙁

  1. Nkunku is a netball player. He should be doing non contact sport.

De-winter is a lower table player. Too pedestrian in his defending.

  2. they changed the start time? Late and missed the first half..

How did Estupido get on the field?? lol

Be Winter plus Estupido starting equal to a losing game. they both together is a clown show lol 😀

  3. Be Winter is not worth of playing for 1 min on the field. He has No defend skill. He should not play unless all CB injured

    He’s never a good player.

  4. 1 thing you really notices in the crowd is that the crowd basically is just shouting Forza Milan and something about Calcio. The match is absolutely without any charm or atmosphere neither on or off field.

  5. As a Dane I can only say Fok you Højlund. 2-0 next to impossible now unless we start pulling something extraordinary out of our sleeves.

      1. I know and usually I would cheer for him when playing for the international team. I even had some hope that he could have joined us instead I was just super frustrated with the goal and let my anger go towards him as he was the one who scored.

  6. 2-0. Game probably over. Oh well. 10 days rest until the next Serie A game. We’ve now conceded 2 goals in three straight games.

  7. We are not gonna get back here, use the next 17 minutes to injure as many Napoli players as possible as its not like Napoli didn’t try it as well in the first half.
