Nazione: Pioli tells Milan to sign Fiorentina defender as they ask ‘what if?’ regarding Chiesa

AC Milan are pressing hard to secure the signature of Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina before next season, according to a report.

The Rossoneri are in the market for a new centre-back before the new campaign gets underway given the doubts surrounding Mateo Musacchio and Leo Duarte, and Milenkovic appears to be the name that the club have chosen to focus on.

Florence-based paper La Nazione (via MilanNews) note how the Serbia international still has two years on his contract with La Viola, but he does not seem willing to renew and therefore his departure in this market window is increasingly likely.

Fiorentina are well aware that several clubs are on its trail, but at the moment the most concrete and solid interest is from Milan, with Stefano Pioli having made a specific request to the management to go and get his former pupil.

Pioli – who coached Milenkovic at Fiorentina – knows his flexibility and his ability to play both as a centre-back and as a right-back.

His excellent performances over the last couple of seasons has attracted the attention of several clubs, including Milan who have already had several discussions with his agent Fali Ramadani.

In addition to Milenkovic, there is another player that Milan like from Fiorentina, with La Nazione asking: “What if AC Milan also came forward for the Chiesa?”.
