Reports: Milan legend Nesta to take Avellino job and hopes for Comotto signing

Alessandro Nesta will be the new head coach of Avellino and he hopes for some help from his former club AC Milan.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com), the former Milan and Lazio defender has accepted the offer for a two-year contract from Avellino to replace Davide Ballardini. The details are being finalised, with an announcement expected this week.

Ballardini departed the club after they failed to get promoted in the play-offs, seeking an opportunity in Serie A. Alternative leads if the Nesta talks fall through are Luca D’Angelo (Spezia) and Michele Mignani (formerly of Bari, Palermo and Cesena).

A helping hand?

Meanwhile, the first transfer targets for Avellino are already starting to circulate, given that they are on the trail of three youngsters returning from loans at Spezia. Striker Vanja Vlahovic (Atalanta) is one, as are midfielders Alessandro Romano (Roma), Giacomo Faticanti (Lecce) and Natan Girma (Reggiana).

However, Milan’s Christian Comotto is another name that is on the list for the Campanian club. The teenager has had a good year of growth in Serie B with Spezia and now is expected to be evaluated in preseason by the new coach and director(s).

According to Corriere dello Sport, Avellino also have eyes on Alessandro Pietrelli of Juventus, plus Giulio Misitano of Atalanta U23 and Antonio Di Nardo of Pescara for the attack. Finally, they are in talks over two Fiorentina gems: defender Eddy Kouadio and striker Riccardo Braschi.
