Alessandro Nesta has expressed his support for Massimiliano Allegri, hoping he continues to do well with AC Milan after having ‘improved’ since his first tenure.
Nesta and Allegri worked together when the manager took over Milan for the 2010-11 season, and that relationship continued until the defender decided to retire after the 2012-13 season. Together, they won a Scudetto and a Supercoppa Italiana.
In an interview with DAZN, as transcribed by MilanNews, Nesta was asked about Milan’s current situation and whether Allegri should remain the coach of the team. He definitely expressed his support for the manager, stating that he has improved a lot.
“I hope Milan end up going far with Allegri. For me, he’s not the same as he was in 2011. He has improved in managing players and understanding where he stands.
“He came to Milan from Cagliari to an ageing team that had won a lot. It wasn’t easy to manage players like us at the end of their careers. For me, it was a great learning experience. And now he’s made a leap forward,” he stated.
Considering that the current players have said that they want Allegri to stay, you would think that the backing of former players was the only thing missing. The manager seems to have hit, and Milan seem increasingly convinced about building the project around him.

I believe the best formation for this Milan team is a double pivot one and not the single as Allegri is a very rigid and inflexible manager and this had always been my fear ever since he arrived.
Throwback to Allegri’s first stint at Milan he froze Pirlo out who later became the cornerstone for Juventus dominance whom he later enjoyed managing later at Juventus. The problem is Allegri seem arrogant to me based on the premise that if he could just put his ego aside and just merge his two favourite formations (352 and 433) into one in 343 Milan attack wouldn’t this blunt while the defence still covered.
