Nesta praises Milan after ‘quality showed’ in Berlusconi trophy: “We suffered their pressure”

By Ben Dixon -

Alessandro Nesta returned to San Siro on Tuesday night as his Monza side were beaten 3-1 by AC Milan, and the former defender was full of praise for his former club after the game.

Milan’s final pre-season game was very much like the three that came before it, where positives were easy to find, and negatives difficult to see, which is very positive for any pre-season campaign, let alone one led by a new manager.

When Paulo Fonseca was appointed, wholesale changes were not expected, but if there were some, it would not have been a shock. Either way, there are normally some teething problems when managers change, but this has not been the case with the Portuguese coach.

Since his arrival, the Rossoneri are unbeaten in five fixtures, winning their past four, and ahead of the new season, there is a wave of positivity about what the season could bring, and there is still time to bring additional players through the door, and Fonseca touched on this after the game.

Milan’s Portuguese coach was not the only person to offer comments, and Nesta also spoke to the media, in his case Canale 5, and he offered some insight into what went wrong for his side on the night, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

How to read this 3-1?

“We started a bit timid, we suffered their pressure at the beginning. Then we moved the ball faster and we equalised. In the second half, we came in and they scored two goals, they made important changes and the quality showed. All the teams are finishing their roses, we have to finish our things.”
