Alessandro Nesta’s post-match comments after his Monza side lost to AC Milan were dominated by the protests that everyone witnessed.

Nesta is someone who knows exactly what it takes to win. He lifted the Scudetto twice as a Milan player, the Coppa Italia, the Supercoppa Italiana twice, the Champions League twice, the UEFA Super Cup twice and the FIFA Club World Cup in his over 10-year spell with the red and black.
His attachment to the Rossoneri is no secret, and last night’s toxic atmosphere at San Siro must have been painful for him to witness. The Curva Sud staged a mass walk-out on 15 minutes, and that came after thousands went to Casa Milan to show their displeasure towards the current leadership.
After the game – which his side lost 2-0 – Nesta spoke to DAZN and in his press conference, answering questions on the game but also the discontent at a club he loves dearly. MilanNews relayed his comments.
What does the future hold for you?
“My experience at Monza ends here. The pairing didn’t work well: I hope Monza does better without me and I do better without Monza. But I’m starting again strong, that’s for sure.
“When you fall off a horse you have to get back on it right away. The same goes for me, I don’t know where but I’ll start again. I’m open to all possibilities, even abroad. I’m open to everything.

“We have to start again from the men. We had many strong players, but they were also great men.”
San Siro was angry tonight…
“It makes me sad to see a San Siro like this. The San Siro crowd knows about football, so if they boo you it’s because you’re not doing well.”
What do you think about the protests?
“In ten years here they never protested against us and we had a few seasons so-so. This stadium here smells of football, I’m used to it: I found the right crowd. The effect is ugly.
“Milan, like Real Madrid, has too important a history to see an evening like this. Everything must come together, it’s a shame to see the team like this.”
Do the club lack Milanismo?
“I understand the curiosity, but I don’t allow myself to make deep judgments.”
Is the mentality that Milan must resume that of Berlusconi?
“Having Berlusconi guarantees you many things. When you win you think you are strong and he bought you even stronger people. He had an uncommon vision, he spoiled us all. He was a special president who spoiled is with everything, it is difficult to repeat it in the world today.”
