Nesta, Shevchenko and Seedorf share thoughts on what Milan lacked in Inter loss

By Oliver Fisher -

Andriy Shevchenko, Alessandro Nesta and Clarence Seedorf have all had their say after AC Milan were beaten 2-0 by Inter in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash last night.

Milan were all at sea during the opening 20 minutes of the game, conceding twice and never really recovering. The first goal came less than 10 minutes in as nobody marked Edin Dzeko from a corner and he buried into the top corner.

The second just minutes later when Henrikh Mkhitaryan strolled through the middle unopposed to slot past Mike Maignan, and things really threatened to get out of hand from there with the Rossoneri getting outplayed in every department.

Despite a positive start to the second 45 and with Sandro Tonali hitting the post, there was to be no goal for Milan to cling on for and they are now left hoping for a minor miracle in next Tuesday’s return fixture. If you think they can do it, then have a flutter with soccer betting sites“.

Shevchenko, Nesta and Seedorf were all present as part of the panel covering the game for Amazon Prime Video, and the Ukrainian went first in assessing what went wrong for Milan after Inter’s victory.

“Milan suffered Inter psychologically. In the first half they didn’t manage to get into the game, in the second with a few substitutions and with a bit of the right mentality they managed to do better. The final result of this match rewards the Nerazzurri, but in my opinion the Diavolo can still recover in the second leg,” he said.

Nesta also believes that the Rossoneri were far from their best, but that Inter missed a chance to really put the tie to bed.

“Milan really struggled for me today, they found a team that were superior in many aspects, even from the point of view of nerves. Inter could have closed it, they found a Milan in great difficulty, but in the second leg they are still open.”

Finally, Seedorf commented on the game and stressed just how important it is that Rafael Leao is available for the second leg.

“I don’t know how much Milan have to take away from this match. I hope Leao can come back, he gives the possibility to stay even deeper. Today they didn’t have the burst of him. Mentally they have to find each other, with or without Leao, and this is the fundamental thing for Pioli.”

  1. They lacked a forward, a midfielder and a defender with the quality of Sheva, Seedorf and Nesta.
Like it to admit or not Inter has better players than Milan. There is a reason why we have only won 3 of the last 15 derbies since 2018.
They’ve been whoopin’ us on a regular

  2. “The first goal came less than 10 minutes in as nobody marked Edin Dzeko from a corner and he buried into the top corner”

“The second just minutes later when Henrikh Mkhitaryan strolled through the middle unopposed to slot past Mike Maignan”

So basically it means, that both of Inter’s goals, are because of our sloppy defense than any individual brilliance of their players..

    1. Yes, that’s why it is logical they have better players.

Milan owner(s) are focused on young players that eventually can be sold for good amount. Where’s shitters want some kind of bigger result, like we in Berlusconi era. Now shitter must sell every year players because better players you need to pay more – logically.
Where’s Milan situation is that expenses are regulate by amount of revenue without of revenue from players sales.

  3. Basically Milan miss them three a Sheva like forward, a strong and creative am like Seedorf and a leader at the backline like Nesta.
