Giorgio Furlani is not giving up on the idea of hiring Tony D’Amico from Atalanta, a report claims, and he intends to try until the end.

The soap opera regarding Milan’s pursuit of a new sporting director does not yet have an ending. As Calciomercato.com report, the CEO Furlani is keeping in touch with the various candidates but has not yet made the final move.

While Gerry Cardinale was meeting Fabio Paratici again (he will remain with Spurs in the end), Furlani was planning a contact with Atalanta for Tony D’Amico, despite the words of La Dea’s CEO Luca Percassi in recent days.

“For us he is a fundamental figure, beyond the presumed interests that there may be. He is our sporting director and next year he will have the task of creating a competitive Atalanta,” he said, aiming to shut the door in Milan’s face.

D’Amico: new attempt expected

D’Amico remains the Rossoneri’s first choice but he is under contract until 2027, with an option in favour of the club for another season, so they can essentially have him under control for another three years.

This plays in Atalanta’s favour, but the CEO will try to negotiate with the Bergamo club and hopes for Gian Piero Gasperini to stay, because he could soften the Nerazzurri’s position.

It is expected that the issue will continue beyond the end of the season, scheduled for May 25, but Milan cannot run the risk of being left with nobody. Igli Tare remains a possibility to take into consideration, probably ‘last-minute’, but first another attempt for D’Amico will be made.

  1. Please move fast now as the new SD needs time to come up with a plan. Transfer window has already started and we are late with no good. I am just afraid that Igli Tare will end up refusing you and we end up with some inept person for this very important function.

For me Igli has an impresive record, and it suits your new RedBird phylosophy, so please move on, this is not some investment that you are waiting for the right moment to jump, it is football, which I am afraid you do not quite understand.

  2. The only reason Furlani is not choosing Tare is simply because Tare is Redbird choosen one and Furlani represents Elliott. So it’s a matter of a toxic power struggle at Milan between Elliott and Redbird.

Milan will be better off when these two ownership groups leave the club and I don’t see that happening any time soon.

  3. If i’m D’Amico I’m telling them to go eff themselves. And then when Furlani inevitably turns back to Tare, I hope he tells Furlani to go eff himself too – Tare should at least have pride and be no one’s last choice.

Which lands us back to square one, which is inevitably where we were always going to end up with these incompetent idiots running the show.

  4. foolani still trying to explain the SD candidates what the important of short budget, salary cap, moneyball, being yesman & lesser salary.
the task is must build great squad, play entertaing football, financial scudetto, selling tickets & merchandise
