By Steph Insixiengmay -

The international break is over and soon, the AC Milan Women will return to Italy to prepare for their upcoming game. Their next game will be against Fiorentina on October 31st.

Before then, here’s an overview of the latest news about the Rossonere.

A new signing

AC Milan recently signed Israeli midfielder Noa Selmhodzic. Selmhodzic had recently been signed for the team’s Primavera squad but was promoted to the senior team.

Her promotion was made official yesterday.

International Duty

➤ Valentina Giacinti, Laura Giuliani, and Valentina Bergamaschi helped Italy maintain their perfect record in their Women’s World Cup qualification games. Giacinti played both of Italy’s matches against Croatia and Lithuania. Giuliani and Bergamaschi suited up against Lithuania and helped the team keep a clean sheet, while Giacinti scored the Azzurre’s third goal. Giuliani missed the match against Croatia due to receiving a red card the last time Italy played the country.

➤ Guðný Árnadóttir helped Iceland secure victories over the Czech Republic and Cyprus. The defender helped Stelpurnar okkar maintain two clean sheets in both of their qualification matches. Iceland won the games by scores of 4-0 and 5-0. They currently sit in second place in their qualification group.

➤ Sara Thrige helped spurn Denmark to two consecutive victories over Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. The fullback had an assist in each game and scored against Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, the defender went down injured against Montenegro. There is no word on her condition and it will be assessed within the following days.

➤ Refiloe Jane suited up for South Africa and helped Banyana Banyana secure two resounding victories over Mozambique. The midfielder played 70 minutes for the first match then the full 90 for the second encounter. The South Africans beat their opponents by an aggregate score of 13-0.

➤ Christy Grimshaw took the field twice for Scotland. The first was in a Women’s World Cup qualifier against Hungary. The midfielder broke the deadlock at the 41st minute. Grimshaw also took the field in Scotland’s 2-0 defeat against Sweden in a friendly match.

➤ Laia Codina was summoned by coach Laura del Río to play for Spain’s U-23 squad. The team played two friendlies against Italy (4-1) and Portugal (6-0). Miriam Longo was also summoned by the Azzurrine for that match but did not play in the friendly. She also displayed impressive leadership qualities while on the field.

More news about the AC Milan Women, as well as a preview of their match against Fiorentina, will be posted soon.
