It seems that Newcastle United are not dropping their pursuit of Malick Thiaw, and AC Milan could open to opportunities.
Last summer, Newcastle took an interest in Thiaw after trying to get a move for Fikayo Tomori done. However, it was unsuccessful. They have remained keen, though, and this summer they are again trying to pursue a move.

This time around, it looks like it could be more positive for the Geordies, though, despite Massimiliano Allegri’s wishes.
Move opening?
Newcastle are said to be ‘pressing’ for Thiaw, according to MilanNews, and the German defender seems ‘inclined’ to accept the advances with a €4m deal sitting on the table. Though, the situation will not change unless he forced a move.
In that case, the Rossoneri would have to return to the mercato for another defender, the report states. Already, there are a few ideas, none of which are new. Firstly, a road to Giovanni Leoni would re-open, who Allegri is a big fan of.
Alternatively, Fiorentina’s Pietro Comuzzo could be seen as a valid option for the Diavolo’s defence, and he could be a lower cost alternative. It all relies on Thiaw, but there is no urge to make a deal happen at present from any party.
Unless youre gonna properly reinvest that money into a real option like Leoni, he’s not for sale. Enough selling first team starters and replacing with cheap ahh alternatives who can barely defend at all

45million would be a steal, HOWEVER, the start of the season is right around the corner. Plus, right now we have 4 CBs and most likely will play with a back 3. So, depth is not in our favor either.
Bartesaghi can play left CB on a 3. He looks more natural there. Indeed he crosses well so could be a Bastoni type player if he/we are lucky

Selling Thiaw is a stupid decision this late in the season. Leoni only played 17 games in Serie A and he only started 14 games. He is not worth 40m.
Leoni for 40-45 million? No thanks. Maybe see how much Comuzzo is instead. We also need to get the RB business done.

Leoni for 40-45m sounds like an even bigger scam than Jashari for 39m. Jashari was the best player of the Belgian league while Leoni has played one match per month or something. Leoni has very few matches under his belt for a 40m pricetag.

leoni is a good defender who doesn’t commit offense in marking and also good in 1 vs 1 condition but he’s overrated at least 15 – 20m is enough
Selling a solid starter 10 days before the season start is a big misstake. We already have a whole new midfield and half the defensive line is new too (both full backs).
