GdS: Newcastle ready to pay €50m for Brazilian – Milan watch on as potential beneficiaries

AC Milan could be set to benefit in quite a big way as Lucas Paqueta continues to be strongly linked with a move to Newcastle United, a report claims.

Paqueta arrived at Milan from Flamengo for €35m back in January 2019 and the Brazilian had an extraordinary impact under the then-manager Gennaro Gattuso who played him as a midfielder in his 4-3-3 and also as a left winger.

However, the struggles began with the arrival of Marco Giampaolo as he could not find a role for him and Paqueta decided to seek new pastures in search of more playing time.

In September 2020 he joined Lyon where he has since racked up 21 goals and 14 assists in 80 appearances, which is a good return for a €20m signing.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) report that Milan did not just get that figure however as they also secured a percentage of the proceeds from future resale equal to 15%.

Now, Paqueta has entered the crosshairs of the cash-rich Newcastle who are ready to spend an amount close to €50m to bring him to the Premier League and complete an all-Brazilian midfield with Bruno Guimarães and Joelinton.

In this case that the move did formally get completed, Milan would therefore stand to earn around €7.5m (if it were €50m) which would certainly be a boost to the coffers.
