Newspaper ratings highlight dire evening for Theo Hernandez against Atalanta

Theo Hernandez had a tough evening at work as AC Milan were defeated 2-1 by Atalanta. He lost the duel with Charles De Ketelaere on the first goal and struggled throughout, as shown by the player ratings by various outlets.

The Frenchman hasn’t been able to replicate his previous positive season with the Rossoneri so far, seemingly making the same mistakes week in and week out. In addition to the CDK goal yesterday, Raoul Bellanova consistently won the speed duels, as well as the dribbles.

Taking a look at the player ratings handed out by Italian newspapers, as well as MilanNews and SempreMilan, it’s clear that it wasn’t a good evening for Hernandez. Gazzetta dello Sport even gave him a 4.5/10, naming him the worst of the game.

Theo’s ratings

  • Gazzetta dello Sport: 4.5
  • CorSport: 5
  • Tuttosport: 5.5
  • MilanNews: 5.5
  • SempreMilan: 5

The fact that Milan don’t have a proper deputy hasn’t helped either, forcing Hernandez to work every time and always in the big game. Paulo Fonseca thus hasn’t been able to do the ‘Rafael Leao treatment’, seeing as he was able to bench the Portuguese winger and still start a good player.

Filippo Terracciano isn’t horrible, but he’s not exactly a player who should be competing for the starting spot on the left-hand side of the defence.

  1. We’ve known we need to sign a LB for ages, and yet what did management do? Paid 17mil for the worst RB in the league. Abysmal

  2. Theo has been on a gradual decline for a while now. This season being in worst form thus far. Not sure if it has to do with his off-field legal issues or Fonseca not being able to bring out the best in him… or both.

  3. I think it’s more mental than anything. He seems not to be himself on the pitch. It’s just so unlike him just looking at him. I hope he can get through this rut.
