GdS: Almost certain to stay – the nine players Milan will build around

There are set to be a lot of changes at AC Milan this summer, but it seems that the Rossoneri will see the team build around some staples.

Rebuilding a team, on paper, is so much easier than it is in real life. Simply just get rid of the bad, and keep the good, and buy more of it. Easy right? Well, overhauling a squad in that way almost never goes well, and there are often more significant issues when doing this.

With that said, the club can, of course, begin to start to mould out an idea, and it seems Milan have already done this, with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that there are nine players who will remain at the club for this rebuild, definitely.

Starting in attack, Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao are not to be touched this summer. The American is having another phenomenal season and will renew his deal shortly, whilst Leao, as frustrating as he can be, has recorded another 10/10+ season in terms of contributions. Then, Santiago Gimenez, of course, will remain.

Tijjani Reijnders starts things off in midfield, as expected, given he has signed a new deal already. Warren Bondo and Youssouf Fofana also join the list of safety.

Defensively, there are even more names, with ideas already being clear: Strahinja Pavlovic, Matteo Gabbia, Kyle Walker and Alex Jimenez are all on the ‘keep’ list at present.

    1. There are some players that Milan will definitely look to sell, because of the lost revenue from not playing UCL.
They need around 60 – 80 million of pure capital gain, to have positive sheet at the end of the season.

For now, probably they can expect 10 million from bennacer sale and 14 from Kalulu. That’s 24 mil. So they need around 50 more….

Other loaned players like Colombo, Pobega, Adli, Okafor and Saelemaekers are not easy to be sold. So in “bag” of players to be sold, must have, Mike, because of his high value, bad season and huge request for new salary. Selling Mike for 30 million, Milan can gain huge capital, and later can be easily doing new mercato without pressure to sell more players.
      Same apply for Hernandez.

Ruben Loftus, Chukwueze, Tomori, are players who can be sold but can’t make bigger capital gain. Like for example Thiaws. If you sell Thiaw for 30, you can have at least 25 mill of capital gain.

  1. all this selling because we lost revenue is pure horse manure. We can delcare losses of up to 60 million euros amortized over 3 years. So with our loaned out players, we can cover the difference this season. We are not in a position we have to sell this summer. We declared profits two seasons in a row.

We are in a healthy situation with commercial revenues set to increase significantly too that will cover the loss of CL income. If anything, missing out on Europe if we retain our players will help us push for the Scudetto also not requiring as deep of a roster.

Theo, Maignan etc, all our best players have to be retained because we won’t be able to attract players to the club. It sends a terrible message when we sell our best players or lose them for free.

    1. We can sell 3 or 4 fringe players in the next three years to cover loosing CL income next year ad slight salary increases. The notion of selling our best is shooting ourselves in the foot.

    1. DNT keep walker and let Theo and maignan collect new contract and sell them to gain capital, clear this people,Abraham,Felix, walker,Tomori, musah, chukwueze, loftu cheeks, adli, pobeger, okafor, and bring back this player etc Colombo, kalulu, salaamakaer, bennacer, ribeli their want to play for this team but knw coach to give them d Chance that is all.

  2. Must get rid of some dead weight and salaries, maybe bring in 2 players a world class defender and a world class midfielder. We have to stop with the bargain buys, buy less players, but the ones we do buy should be world class.
After that I would much rather see a liberali or carmarda get minutes before one of the algorithm signings.

  3. It look like theo and maignan not in the plan for future. Just play well and don’t get injured, your price will increase, we can get more capital gain to be profitable club next season.
