Christopher Nkunku has admitted that he was happy to have returned to RB Leipzig , but is still unsure why AC Milan ostracised him.
Nkunku arrived at Milan in the summer of 2025, in a deal worth €37m plus €5m in bonuses from Chelsea. In a season of ups and downs, he finished with 32 league appearances and seven goals, plus two appearances and one goal in the Coppa Italia.

After just one season, Milan decided to part ways with the Frenchman in quite brutal fashion, and closed the negotiations with Leipzig quickly towards the end of the window. The deal was finalised on the basis of a €4m loan with a buy-out option set at €28m.
‘I don’t understand why’
The French striker himself admitted that he is still uncertain as to why Ruben Amorim and the Rossoneri management decided to cut him from the plans. He spoke during a press conference alongside head coach Martin Demichelis on the eve of the Champions League match against Como.
“When I went to Chelsea, things started well, and then I got injured at the end of the last friendly. And after that, everything changed. I had my first operation, I wanted to get back on the pitch quickly, and there were also many changes. I didn’t like my role at Chelsea,” he said (via Calciomercato.com).

“At Milan, on the other hand, I didn’t have any injuries, but the vision of football was different from mine. So, as soon as the opportunity arose to come back here and play my football, I did it.
“Milan’s decision? It’s a choice that should be respected, but I don’t understand why they behaved like this either. I was surprised. In any case, I wish them a good season.
“I’m very happy to be here and I’m convinced I made the right decision. The first week was fantastic and the team made me feel very welcome. I really wanted to come back here, I wanted to play my football. I spoke to the coach, I had other options, but I felt I had to come back here.
“Targets? I want to have fun, I want to play, I want to help the team. I’m hungry, I want to give it my all. The last three years haven’t gone as I expected, and now I just want to have fun.”

The coach is an oddball, Christopher, that’s why.
Nobody understands that. Athekame, Fofana, Nkunku, they would all be very useful to us this season given our lack of ambitions as we haven’t signed any RWB, (D)MC, nor a proper AMC and a backup striker which are the 2 important positions Nkunku could cover/have covered easily. Now you ask where is Camarda? OK, legitimate, but where is Kostic? Why wasn’t he kept? Amateurism.
Hahaha hahaha hahaha clueless management clueless fans here too during the transfer window everyone was clamoring for new players and SUPPORTED OUR OLD PLAYERS TO LEAVE AFTER WE RE-BUILT THEM and this season is the season we could have enjoyed our dividend of exercising patients for their injuries to heal and their repentance after going through criticism but we were so brain blocked and allowed them to go wait until we start playing 3 times in a week. Just wait
Watched Como dismantle RBL.
Dude was essentially invisible for most of the game pops up with an assist, the disappears again.
If.you are a defender that is a good game.
He did look fit and he was active. So maybe Como was just that good.
I think the message was, “i watched the tapes and we only keep players who contribute at all times when on the field”
Like Estupinan and RLC?
