It wasn’t the joyous mood that many hoped for at training this afternoon as the AC Milan squad reported to Milanello following the defeat to Napoli.
Milan were left with nothing despite a good performance against Napoli, with plenty of goal-scoring opportunities created but ultimately zero goals scored and a 2-0 defeat. It may only be October, but the feeling is that the Scudetto train has left already without the Rossoneri on board.
It was another big game failure for Milan that leaves them 11 points behind the league leaders. While they faced a team that already has Antonio Conte’s stamp on it, Paulo Fonseca continues to struggle to mould his side.
Speaking on Sky (via MilanNews), Peppe Di Stefano shed a bit more light on the scene at the training ground today and in particular the absence of the directors in what is another difficult moment.
“A collective analysis must be done, not only technical, but also corporate. Today, for example, no director was present at Milanello. Moncada was not there, Ibrahimovic was not there, who, however, in the last week had been seen both Monday and Thursday in the Milanello area,” he said.
“It is part of an idea, a strategy that the current management has to experience Milanello like this. It is their line and they are pursuing it.
“Maybe things would not be different with the presence of the directors here at Milanello, but I believe that sometimes discussions can be more useful than training.”
