It is well known that AC Milan are in the market for a new striker this summer, and the list of potential names continues to grow.
With the Scudetto race now pretty much over, Milan now have a Champions League spot to defend before fully immersing themselves in planning for the new season. The main goal, as it seems to be every year, is the acquisition of a new centre-forward.
From Jackson to Kean
Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports this morning that Milan’s latest investments haven’t worked out. Christopher Nkunku (€38m) and Santiago Gimenez (just over €32m) both arrived in the past 18 months, but contribution has been inconsistent and their goalscoring return is low.
They are on their way out, as is Niclas Fullkrug. He arrived at a paltry cost in January from West Ham, but his latest performances haven’t been convincing, and Milan will most likely not pay the €5m to buy him permanently from the English club.
The big target will therefore be a new starting striker. Moise Kean and Dusan Vlahovic are options being explored, but they’re difficult to secure due to their costs. Robert Lewandowski is an intriguing prospect, with Barcelona potentially soon offering him a one-year extension.
In the last few hours, other, more feasible names have emerged from Igli Tare and Giorgio Furlani’s notebooks. One player stands out: Nicolas Jackson, who after a year at Bayern Munich will return to Chelsea and could leave on another loan with option to buy deal.
Significant figures are also being discussed for Mateo Retegui, who earns €16m net per year in Saudi Arabia. Also playing in Saudi Arabia is Darwin Nuñez, formerly of Liverpool and another potential target for the Rossoneri, but there’s also competition from Juventus.
It’s clearly too early, and any rumours are in an early stage, but Milan must start early because they no longer have any margin for error. Allegri wants a true striker, a goalscorer, not a gamble. He needs someone capable of scoring, and quickly.

Milan get used to overpay Chelsea’s trash .
Jackson 😂 if we’re seriously considering trash like this all is lost…
Nothing against Jackson or the people belief of “Chelsea Trash”. Some players work and some dont. Let’s not forget, Pulisic, Salah were once “chelsea trash”. My problem is, Jackson is the same profile as Santi and Nkunku. Fast, mobile, good with the ball type of player. BUT what Allegri wants and what’s needed is a strong, good at hold up play, good in the air, target man. Hence, our last minute loan of Fulkug. If we are to get yet another fast, mobile forward, might as well stick with Santi/Nunku/Rafa. There is a reason why Allegri has played RLC up front whenever he can. He wants freaking target man, big body, hold up play up there.
Nunez & Jackson would “thrive” as well as Juve’s David. 🤦♂️
