By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have officially announced the signing of Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid on a long-term deal after he did his medical earlier this week.

In a statement on their official website, Milan state that they are proud to announce the signing of Álvaro Borja Morata Martín from Club Atlético de Madrid. He is the captain of the Spanish national team, with whom he recently won the European Championship after beating England in the final in Berlin.

Morata has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028 which is therefore a four-year deal, with an option to extend for an additional year. He recently stated how excited he is to get going, and how influential both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paulo Fonseca were.

Born in Madrid on 23 October 1992, Álvaro spent time in the academies of Atlético, Getafe and Real Madrid, before graduating from Real’s and making his senior debut with Los Blancos in December 2010.

He has played for Real Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea and Atlético Madrid making a total of 506 appearances and scoring 172 goals.

He has won two UEFA Champions League titles, one UEFA Super Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup, two LaLiga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, one Supercopa de España, two Serie A titles, three Coppa Italias, two Italian Supercoppe and one FA Cup.

Morata has also played 80 games for his national team, scoring 36 goals, and has won both the recent European Championship and the 2022/23 UEFA Nations League.

He has chosen to wear the number seven shirt, vacated by Yacine Adli who will now take the No.94.

  1. So it begins. I’m not optimistic nor pessimistic about this move. We shall see where the chips land at the end of the season

  2. Expectation: Fullkrug, Guirassy, Jonathan David, Lukaku, Broja, Tammy Abraham, Depay, Santiago Gimenez

    Reality: Morata

        1. You made a statement that your expectation (by the way Fullkrug is likely to still come) is better than Morata. You aren’t a serious person. You’re acting silly.

    1. LMAO Morata is better than Fullkrug (who I do like too), Guirassy (by miles), David, Lukaku, Broja (who has like 5 goals in his entire career), Tammy (injured again are we?), Depay (a free agent nobody wants) and Gimenez (goal poacher not the same)…

      You serious?

    2. Your expectations are very low if you think Morata is a worse signing than any of those guys. If anything he is another steal like when we signed Ibra back and then Giroud. Same model didn’t work out with Mandzukic and Origi but Morata put a massive effort in helping Spain winning the Euros. The only thing that must be different is to quickly invest another 20million in a younger prospect. Morata can be a bargain of the season! Already proven in Serie A and during first stint he played on the wing as well. He be no 9, 10 and both wings.

    3. Mortal has mote experience and prolific season then all of them. Guirassy has had 1 above average season, same with David, Lukaku doesn’t even need an explanation, Tammy is a mainstay on the treatment table, broja as well and has no real exceptional season, Depay is hit or miss every year. Gimenez only makes sense if we want a pure poacher, and still has 1 real standout season to stand on. Fullkrug is the only other one who makes sense in profile, and he’s said he wants to join too. So we’ll have both, and jovic, and Camarda in small moments. That’s plenty enough striking depth

  3. Well decorated player, a Champion. About skeptical for him at first, but now i feel optimist about how he will guide this “young team” to champion mentality like in Spain National Team

  4. My big concern is he seems to be mentally fragile, when he felt unappreciated with the SP national team or Chelsea his level dropped a lot. Ultimately he got back on his feet but I hope with age and experience he stops caring so much about other people’s opinion. Otherwise, he will enter this forum mid-season and consider retirement…

    1. I think he’s mentally more mature now. Being a captain of the best National Team in Europe is not an easy task and he prove it with Euro title. In Milan, he’ll be an example for young lads, like Zlatan and Giroud did, and that will make his confidence raising.

  5. Welcome and good luck Morata.

Saw this coming from a mile away though unfortunately. Not sure what to make of it but it’s basically an almost like for like Giroud replacement . And that’s basically it. Maybe he has a career high with us like Puli but it’s going to be hard to beat prev best 30+ goal contributions. That being said, wish him all the best

  6. Good luck, I wish you change my mind as Giroud did!

I really didn’t see that coming and hope you do the same!

    FORZA MILAN!
