Official: AC Milan announce Kalulu will be out for four months following surgery

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan have announced that Pierre Kalulu will be sidelined for around four months due to the injury he sustained against Napoli last weekend.

The centre-back was forced to come off in the first half of the game, following a challenge, and he was replaced by Marco Pellegrino. The latter was then also replaced, highlighting the defensive crisis at Milan.

It was confirmed pretty quickly that Kalulu had suffered a serious injury and on their website this evening, Milan announced that he will be out for around four months. He underwent surgery to repair the ruptured tendon today and the procedure was a success.

“AC Milan can confirm that Pierre Kalulu underwent surgery today to repair a complete rupture of his left rectus femoris tendon.

“The operation, which was carried out in Finland by Professor Lasse Lempainen in the presence of AC Milan’s Head of Medical Team, Stefano Mazzoni, was a complete success.

“His expected recovery time is estimated to be around four months,” the statement read.

As a result of this injury, Milan are expected to run to the January transfer window for reinforcements, with Bournemouth man Lloyd Kelly reportedly at the top of their list. A lot can happen between then and now, though, so the rumours have to be taken with a pinch of salt.

  1. This is a really bad news, more than people think. A potential starter both CB and right back. We absolutely need another strong CB in January.

    1. maybe not. Even if we do get one it will take Pioli about 5 months before he is “ready”.
Unless its a Tomori lvl loan + buy option, that he would have to play like it or not
