AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri has named his team for tonight’s rematch against Como at San Siro.
It has been exactly one month since Milan last took to the field to play in front of their home fans, the 1-0 win over Lecce to be precise. Since then they have been on the road, racking up two wins (3-0 vs. Bologna, 2-1 vs. Pisa) and a draw (1-1 vs. Roma).
This is the second time in just over a month that Milan and Como will face each other. It was an Adrien Rabiot-inspired performance that got the job done by the lake, which Cesc Fabregas didn’t feel was fair.

Speaking of the Frenchman, he is one of three absentees for tonight’s game. He will serve a one-game suspension, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek was a late exclusion having complained of discomfort, and Santiago Gimenez is still recovering from ankle surgery.
There is one change to the three-man defence ahead of the captain Mike Maignan: Koni De Winter replaces Matteo Gabbia, partnering up with Fikayo Tomori and Strahinja Pavlovic. Alexis Saelemaekers is back on the bench but won’t be risked, with Zachary Athekame and Davide Bartesaghi on the flanks.
The midfield trio is a combination that hasn’t been used before, with Ardon Jashari and Samuele Ricci operating either side of Friday’s hero Luka Modric in what is a big opportunity for both the Swiss and the Italian.
Loftus-Cheek was anticipated to get the nod alongside Rafael Leao until he was ruled out, so Christopher Nkunku is up front instead. The bench features the likes of Gabbia, Youssouf Fofana, Saelemaekers, Pervis Estupinan, Christian Pulisic and Niclas Füllkrug.
Official Milan XI (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlovic; Athekame, Jashari, Modric, Ricci, Bartesaghi; Nkunku, Leao.
Bench: Terracciano, Torriani, Gabbia, Odogu, Estupinan, Saelemaekers, Loftus-Cheek, Fofana, Pulisic, Fullkrug.
Official Como XI (3-5-2): Butez; Kempf, Ramón, Diego Carlos; Vojvoda, Perrone, Caqueret, Roberto, Van der Brempt; Paz, Baturina.
Bench: Čavlina, Törnqvist, Vigorito; Moreno, Smolčić, Valle; Da Cunha, Lahdo, Rodríguez; Addai, Douvikas, Kühn.

Yup. Pulisic ran over Allegri’s dog…
Interesting to see both Ricci and Jashari in there 🤔. Was thinking Allegri would have started Fofana but let’s we how this goes. I’m pretty sure ugly football like the last time.. interesting to see how Fab counters that approach or if he’s going to stick to his system
I’m curious to see Jashari/Modric working together. We already know Ricci is pretty good at b2b
Yeah thought Fofana would play also. Perhaps we plan to keep the ball, LOL
I’d feel more comfortable with Gabbia in the middle too
You called it again…. We’re keeping the ball too much for my liking
LOL, I was enjoying it until Mike had a brain fart
Nkunku/Leao partnership has been about as effective as a wind farm…
100% I have very little faith in this being an effective partnership.
Hopefully Allegri’s seen something in training…
So pretty effective eh.
As in they catch the wind, turn and produce electricity
Yep. You could call that constant conversion.
Leao without his speed is barely a footballer…
Milan playing with 10 men because so far, Leao is just walking around uninterested in putting any king of effort in.
*kind
Maignan what a dumb play.
I’m glad Como scored – now we can fking wake up..
I’m glad it was ruled out, because without Rabiot there is no comeback in this game.
Nevermind, my telecast is about 5 minutes behind…
I just can’t stand Leao…
Leao needs to come off at halftime – can’t afford to play whole game with 10 players.
All you Leao haters!!!!
And then he scores … every time..
Allegri will end up being the only coach where none of our players improved because he’s turned them into defenders and lazy players. No creativity whatsoever. SMH
I’m more scared when our players have the ball compared to when they’re without the ball. lol.
All of you that are calling for Leao”s head…He has shut up you guys
Scoring a goal doesn’t make up for walking for 65 minutes and putting your team in major disadvantage.
Omg…Fofana…
My God this DAZN commentator’s so annoying – obviously wants Como to win…
Lots of heart but very little quality
Mr Allegri should play 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 formation, that’s what this team is built for, stop playing boring football.
