Just now, AC Milan have announced the signing of Luka Modric, who leaves Real Madrid after almost 400 professional games.
It is not every day that you sign a multi-Champions League winner, one of the best midfielders of a generation and a Ballon d’Or winner. That is without considering the team that he is joining finished in 8th, and will not play European football.

However, Modric has gone against that trend, and has signed for Milan, which is widely been reported to be his boyhood club. There have been discussions about the move for a while now, but it was confirmed after Real Madrid’s elimination from the Club World Cup.
Deal done for Modric
Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri have spoken already about the signing, before it was even completed. Whilst Modric put the Rossoneri into his Instagram bio on Monday afternoon, when he was completing the move.
Nevertheless, the deal has now been announced on the Diavolo’s club website, with the Croatian signing a one-year deal with Milan, with the option of extending for another year.
As previously reported, the veteran midfielder will take the number 14 for his new club, and will get to work in early August, after his holidays.

Modrić is obviously a veteran by now, which means that his physical — and even technical — form isn’t quite what it used to be. But calling him an “old piece of junk,” as I saw some absolute moron do in another thread on this site, isn’t just mind-blowingly stupid — it’s downright disgraceful. It shows a shocking lack of respect for a legendary champion and a flawless professional who will now be wearing our colors. I sincerely hope that this kind of attitude — repugnant, contemptible, and frankly pathetic — is confined to a microscopic, irrelevant fringe within the Milan fanbase.
