The transfer window has reached its final day and AC Milan have their fifth signing of the month, bringing in Alexis Saelemaekers. The midfielder passed his medical earlier today and then signed his contract.
The move has been confirmed on Serie A’s official website, with the transaction listed as completed. AC Milan also confirmed the deal on their website this evening.
“AC Milan announces that it has acquired the sports performances of the footballer Alexis Saelemaekers on a temporary basis, with the right of option for the definitive acquisition, from RSC Anderlecht. The Belgian midfielder signed a contract with the AC Milan club until 30 June 2020,” the statement read.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who joins the Rossoneri from Anderlecht, will mainly act as a replacement for Suso. The latter signed for Sevilla on Wednesday, following a very poor start to the season.
However, as suggested by various outlets and his previous outings, he can also play in defence as a right-back. In other words, Stefano Pioli was given a versatile player in the final day of the transfer window.
It remains to be seen how much playing time he will get for the first team, as Samu Castillejo has been playing very well recently. In any case, Saelemakers is a necessary addition to the squad as Milan need more than one player for the right flank.
