AC Milan have announced that striker Olivier Giroud has tested positive for Covid-19 during the latest round of swab tests performed.

Via a statement on their official website, the Rossoneri confirmed that Giroud tested positive on a molecular swab carried out at home. The local health authorities were immediately informed, and the player is fine but must remain in isolation.

It should be noted that Olivier has not had contact with the rest of the team since the championship match against Cagliari, the statement was clear to point out.

He will have to sit out until he is testing negative therefore, and it comes just as the Frenchman was gathering a head of steam. After a preseason campaign in which he scored three goals, Giroud netting his first two league goals for the club on Sunday night in the 4-1 hammering of Cagliari at San Siro.

  1. well thankfully this happens soon after the Cagliari game and now is International break and Ibra is started to train again. It is bad loosing him to covid but at least the damage will be minimal.

  2. I know even if vaccinated theres a small chance getting affected but hasnt our players been vaccinated ? because if anyone should be vaccinated it seems like they are amongst a group of people that should be mandatory vaccinated as they are a huge risk group in europe due to their traveling and close contact with a large group of people both on and off the field-
