AC Milan have confirmed that they have signed midfielder Soualiho Meite from Torino via a statement on their official website.
Meite becomes the first recruit of the January transfer window and as per the statement he will join on an initial loan spell from the Granata with the option to buy.
The 26-year-old Frenchman will bring Serie A experience to Stefano Pioli’s squad having been in Italy for two-and-a-half seasons, and should provide a dependable alternative to Franck Kessie in the defensive midfield role.
Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Twitter yesterday that the Frenchman will join Milan for a total of €10million: that being comprised of a €500k loan fee, an option to buy inserted for €8million plus €1.5million in potential bonuses.
More information is expected in due course on Meite’s expected salary, squad number and whether he will be available to play in Cagliari on Monday.
