Official: AC Milan announce new Hall of Fame – Baresi the first inductee

AC Milan have officially launched a Hall of Fame in their 125th anniversary season, and Franco Baresi is the first member to be elected into it.

On their official website, Milan have announced the new Hall of Fame – presented by Emirates – to honour the players and key figures who have left an indelible mark on the club’s history. It will ‘celebrate and preserve the legacy of individuals who have represented the club with distinction, both on and off the pitch’.

To mark the importance of this launch, the Rossoneri also confirmed that Baresi will be the first official inductee into the AC Milan Hall of Fame presented by Emirates. Celebrating his 50th anniversary with Milan this year, Baresi’s inclusion honours not only his legendary status as one of football’s greatest defenders but also his lifelong dedication to the club.

Having spent his entire playing career with the Rossoneri and now serving as the Honorary Vice-President of the Club, Baresi’s induction marks the perfect starting point for this prestigious honour, ensuring that the legacy of AC Milan’s icons is celebrated and preserved for future generations.

Speaking of his induction into the Hall of Fame, Baresi said: “I am deeply honoured to have been chosen by AC Milan as the first inductee into the Hall of Fame, representing the glorious history of this Club and celebrating my 50 years in the red and black.

“This recognition fills me with pride. AC Milan is not just about victories and titles; it embodies style, passion, and sacrifice – values and people that have made this Club great. I hope this project inspires future generations to continue building on our legacy.”

The Hall of Fame will feature two categories of members: Elected Members, chosen through a voting process by registered AC Milan fans, and Honorary Members, who will be inducted at the discretion of the club.

In its first year, the Hall of Fame will focus on former strikers, with 24 legendary forwards set to be shortlisted and three will be elected. Voting is set to open tomorrow, Tuesday 8 October, and will be a four-stage process.

Each of the first four years will focus on specific playing positions, starting with strikers in 2024, and expanding to midfielders, defenders, and goalkeepers in subsequent years. From the fifth year onward, the process will open up to all positions, ensuring comprehensive recognition of the club’s greatest talents.

    1. Crespo?
      That’s a NO.
Crespo played 1 season at Milan. Great striker but he has no business being in the Milan hall of fame.
What about Gulit and Weah, 2 forwards that won Ballon Dor as Milan players?
What about old time strikers like Nordhal, Rivera, Altafini?
Massaro, Pato, Giroud and even Leao should go before Crespo is even mentioned.

  1. Time to also start a “Hall of Shame” the way this club is going. Here are some great candidates:

    • Emerson Royal
    • Rade Krunic
    • Samuel Castillejo
    • Lucas Biglia

Ahh, there are so many more…

  2. Well to my knowledge its not like we didn’t already have a Hall Of Fame as I do remember Seedorf getting removed after he was a bit too outvoiced in regard of selling 70% of the squad which then cost him his job as that was too strong a statement for either Berlusconi or Galliani as it basically fell back on their previous decisions in acquiring old players in the autumn of their careers.

  3. Great, Franco Baresi is formidable. But I’m curious to know if the current administration/ownership of the club would extend to Paolo Maldini the same courtesy. Of course, if they don’t, the fans will most likely elect him once the voting gets to the defenders.

  4. Great timing guys!!

Another example of our tone deaf management

A bit like that new clothes line they launched after we were hammered by Parma or Liverpool.

Stop trading on past glories and take your thumbs out
