AC Milan have at last completed some January transfer business but in the form of a sale, with Luka Romero leaving on a permanent deal.
It had been speculated for weeks that Milan might look to cut short Romero’s loan at Deportivo Alaves, which was a 12-month deal with an option to buy agreed in the summer. The winger was struggling for playing time, and links with other clubs emerged.

Now, Milan have officialy announced the early termination of Romero’s loan with Alavés, adding that the former Lazio man has been transferred permanently to Cruz Azul FC. The club also extend their best wishes to Luka for success in his future career.
On their X profile, Cruz Azul have also confirmed the arrival of the 20-year-old winger, who has represented Argentina up until U20 level but was actually born in Mexico, meaning he is eligible to play for them.
Romero departs having signed for Milan on a free transfer (for a development fee) from Lazio in the 2023 summer window but without ever having really made a mark, barring some impressive preseason games. The fee is widely reported to be in the region of €3.5m.
